Avoid lawyers....Get rid of the sim and take a two week vacation. If it ever did come back on you say you were drunk and then do the lawyer thing after you have been charged. Worse thing is you go to the police station and play the game and pay 10k.....But if your gone for a few weeks and the sim is toast the police will forget about it. They wont work very hard to find you.

A lawyer might be overkill indeed, but if you decide to offer cash along with a public apology to calm her down and avoid trouble, don't do this yourself. Do it the Thai way, go through a trusted Thai 3rd party.

having seen a real eatate agent earlier in the day and being bored monday night i texted her telling her that i'd take the room if she slept with me (stupid), and sending her a nude photo of myself post gym...

in any case she wentnto the police and messaged me with a photo of her phone on desk and my messages on screen in clear view and that of a thai police officer sitting ...told me the police are involved and that im "<deleted>" as well as saying my embassy and immigration were going to be contacted in the morning..

i feel really stupid about it now and im honestly not a bad guy.. whatever happens i apologized to her via text message

just curious what kind of trouble i could be in?

Send another text, ask for her bank account number and tell her you'll deposite a couple hundred thousand baht in her account.. If the problem will go away..

As already stated, it all depends on how far the Lady wishes to pursue this issue.

If she insists on proceeding with her complaint you will most likely be 'invited' to discuss the matter with the police. Should this happen you may or may not need advise/assistance from your Embassy/ Lawyer.

You could, of course, choose to leave Thailand now before any formal charges are made or an arrest warrant is issued.

So many here saying "lose the SIM". Now I am assuming that OP duly registered the SIM card with his passport information. if that is the case and the estate agent has your phone number, then they already know everything about you. Running from them by making it difficult to contact you is only going to frustrate them and put them in a bad mood.

But you know what I think will happen? This is a fairly minor thing. And for minor things, in Thailand I have always seen the police as arbitrators to create a cash settlement between two parties to make it go away. The police want that to happen, and it makes their job easier. I bet you get a call back to come to the police station and settle. Now this is all assuming that the woman does not INSIST on filing a criminal complaint, but I bet the police try to talk her out of that. And if you did get an offer to settle, I do not think you want a lawyer there.

Consider yourself lucky that you did it in Thailand and not one of those Western countries where not only would your feet not hit the ground while they throw you in jail, even before you get out you would pay a hefty fine, pay damages in a civil suit to the victim (you can imagine the loss of earning due to her being afraid to show houses to single males again!), get put on the sex offender list, strong possibility of losing your job and difficulty getting another one because of criminal record, perhaps having to move house due to sex offender list rules (this apparently applies mainly to the USA where sex offenders cannot live within a certain distance from schools, playgrounds etc) and perhaps limits on your travel.

Your best advise is to find someone trustworthy, preferably an older calm Thai lady, who would be prepared to approach the real estate agent, convey your apologies and that you will never do it again. A little subtle negotiation by your go-between and you will find out what you will have to pay to stop this going further. The sooner you do this, the better as if you don't she may carry out her threat to go to immigration, tourist police and whoever else.

Yes, you will pay out. And you will have to pay the go-between, And you will pay more than a Thai as you are a foreigner and she has all the leverage. But if you think it is too much, leave Thailand and don't come back for a few years.

The trouble with ignoring it and moving to another location in Thailand is that a) she may find out anyway - do not underestimate the power of family and social networks (not Facebook but actually social networks) B) she may register the complaint with immigration and whoever else and they will catch you whenever you cross a frontier or go for a work permit/visa extension/retirement visa etc.

Stop sending nude selfies - it is the kind of thing that immature teenagers send to each other but as an adult in any country they can get you into big trouble. If you are bored, find a job or a hobby. And while you are at it, get a better attitude to women - you will have much more success taking a more respectful approach than by sending pics of your body parts! Who knows, with a different approach she might be cuddling up to you now rather than threatening you with the cops.

I think it's just posturing on her part…probably has a relative in the police.

This is a private matter between two people….bidness, as they say.

She offered you some real estate…you said I'll take it if you throw in some extra incentive….you sent her a picture of your goods.

Civil case at best, and one that deserves to be thrown out.

Number of thai girls sending pics of their body parts to farang men far exceeds your efforts.

I'd say wrong in almost every assertion: it is NOT a private matter once transmitted electronically; it is potentially a criminal offence; farang men do not register complaints with the police about such matters because sexual harassment (and that is what this is) is almost exclusively a male on female thing, not vice versa.

...once the police have been implicated it may be out of her hands....

...they have passed some laws regarding conveyance or transmission of pornographic images and vulgar language through mobile phones and computers...

OP you want to fix the problem?

Offer her a wedge of cash, it usually works.

Then you have to visit her and prostrate yourself on the floor in front of her and beg for forgiveness.

"Offer her a wedge of cash, it usually works."

Had a lot of experience exculpating yourself with bribes, have you? She's a real estate agent, not a bar girl, or do you assume everyone in Thailand is for sale?

Real Estate Agent......And?? Seems to me like your assuming that only bar girls are for sale...by your handle,I am presuming your Thai..

and have not had any experiences with girls working in Department stores, Supermarkets, professional offices etc etc!

And I would not call it a bribe!!! It is merely a compensation payment for any undue stress and loss of face!

at any rate im just waiting for some word from police to know if charges are actually gonna be brought...wondering will they call me or come to my condo? wait for me to just be picked up at a border? or maybe theyre doing nothing about it as it seems too minor to deal with

i could call the police myself but at the moment a but reluctant to do so...

yeah i have no idea why she felt the need to tell me my embassy would be getting a call unless shes just frustrated and trying to scare me.. lesson learned..'hoping in all likelihood its just a scare tactic..

wasnt conpletely nude and i only asked her to sleep with me... not a string of graphic language or obscene pictures

ok will not call police... just wait

Posting this again.

If the texts and pic were not over the top. Then just wait and see what happens. If they do call, they invite you to hear your side and then they offer you the chance to pay some cash and its done. If it cant be worked out then charges could be filed. Its the working it out and getting half or more of the payoff into there kitty that they are after.....I agree, your side was there was flirting and that she wanted you to call her. If it ever gets to the bargaining stage always offer way way lower than they ask for....They can really grind and they use scare tactics but at the end of the day most of it is just a game.

anyone have any idea when i should be expecting to hear something from thai police?

i dont see how calling and asking if my name is clear could bite me at this point.. just ready to know so its not all up in the air

Just get on with your life but stay off the beer and the phone.

If the police want you, you will know soon enough .

I don't think you will be hearing from them. If they considered it serious that would of showed up last night or at least by now.

Since you were not entirely nude as you wrote earlier and the text of your SMS was not all that bad is what I base my opinion on.
