Hi all,

I am looking for some info on visa run for VOA,

I am currently on my last entry on TV, must leave by monday,

so i wish to come back in on a VOA.

my partner is heading to Chiang Mai this weekend so i was looking into Mae Sai

immigration. I am from Ireland,

firstly do i need Visa for Myanmar ?

secondly getting VOA straight after TV expires will there be issues do you think?

I have second passport so if i get exit stamp from Thailand, then use second Passport for either Myanmar (if do not require visa), Malaysia or Singaore entry and come back in on second passport with no Thai stamps in passport. would there be issue using second passport entering these countries?

any info would be greatly appreciated

thanks

You are not entitled to a VOA.

What you can get is a Visa Exempt Entry.

Hi Eclipse,

can you explain further please

What nationality are you ? Which passport(s) do you have ?

Very few countries citizens qualify for a VOA and Ireland is not one.

  • You don't qualify for or need a Visa on Arrival. You qualify for Visa Exempt Entry (15 days).

You won't be allowed to exit and re-enter at Mae Sai without a visa. It would be better for you to go to Chiang Khong.

You should have no problem getting visa exempt entry at Chiang Khong using the same passport with your current Tourist Visa. It is multiple Visa Exempt Entries that are restricted.

You can get a VOA to enter Laos.

I forgot to mention that you can extend the 15 days by 30 days at an immigration office (1,900 baht).

And this current entry that you are on now can also be extended at Immigration for 30 days, if you have not done it already, for 1,900 baht.

he could fly out and back in and get 30 days visa exempt yes? By a land crossing as he plans he would only get 15 days. Interesting though that a land crossing 15 day could be extended for another 30 days, versus the more common 30 day initial stay extended by 30 days.
