NAKHON SI THAMMARAT:-- Police have assured a worried public that everything is being done to bring "Nong Praew" home after the toddler went missing some two weeks ago in the south of Thailand.

Fourteen days into a massive search operation involving police, volunteers, foundation workers and relatives the one year and nine month only little girl remains missing.

Police have reiterated that they are confident that Nong Praew, real name Khwanrudee Petchsuwan of Lan Saka district, Nakorn Sri Thammarat is alive and being held.

Earlier this week it was reported that the parents were mixed up in the illegal drugs trade and it is likely that the child is being held as ransom to make them pay a debt owed to a gang.

However, in two new developments eleven ponds were searched so that investigators are now confident that they can rule out the possibility of drowning.

Also a relative of the girl who claimed to have taken her earlier this week was revealed as someone suffering from a mental disorder and sent for treatment at a hospital. There was no truth in the claim.

Wanchai Ekpornphit of the Nakorn Sri Thammarat police said that police had information that they were not revealing to the public for the sake of the child's safety.

"We will bring her home safely for sure," he said, while accepting there was justifiable anger from the local population about the case.

""We will bring her home safely for sure," - one has to point out that there can be only 2 possible reasons to account for a comment like this....the officer has incredibly misjudged a situation which seems beyond his/her comprehension as no-one could state this as a "fact' or secondly he knows who has the child and this implies some form of complicity by those involved with the investigation?

"We will bring her home safely for sure," he said

Either an idiot or knows exactly what is happening.

Either way, stupid public statement. I hope they manage to achieve it for the little girls sake.

I fear for this child's safe being. If she is in the hand's of a ruthless drug gang, i despair. The people that have her,may issue a ransom

note or make a phone call,if the demand is not responded to within a short time, then the situation worsens.we all know the attention span of these type of people is very short.I fear this will not end well.I would hate to think that if the police fail to find her or find her body, that the result will be 'well go home and make another one"

Come home safe and sound, sweet girl.

Amen to that my friend. I pray to God that who ever has this little angel is giving her best care..At the very least she wants her mom and is frightened.
