“Training course” for politicians ready, says army chief

post-247607-0-98269300-1459548680_thumb.

BANGKOK: A special "training course" intended for politicians who refuse to cooperate but continue to criticise the government and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has been prepared and ready for use, army chief Gen Theerachai Nakwanich said on Friday.

He said it will take seven days for each trainee to complete the course, but declined to give details.

The venues for the special training course are at military camps throughout the country, including in Pattani and Yala in the far South, he added.

Gen Theerachai said the NCPO already had on hand a list of potential candidates to undergo the training, adding that most of them were “old faces,” depending on their behaviors.

The idea of arranging a special training course for “unruly” politicians was first mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon after two members of the Pheu Thai Party, Watana Muangsook and Worachai Hema, were taken into military custody last week for “attitude adjustment” after they criticised the government on the social media.
