Lam Takong dam ensures sufficient water until August

BANGKOK, 4 April 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Irrigation Department has confirmed the current amount of water of the Lam Takong dam in Nakhon Ratchasima will be sufficient for consumption until August this year and urged all sides to save water as much as they can.

Deputy Director-General and Spokesman of the Royal Irrigation Department Thongplew Kongchan on Sunday said the dam had around 100 million cubic meters of water for use or 29% of its capacity. The department was implementing a plan to ensure sufficient water for the local people in the next four months, said the official.

In Uttaradit province, Provincial Governor Surasak Charoensirichote said the Sirikit dam now had 1.3 billion cubic meters of water which would be sufficient for consumption until July this year.

Six districts in Uttaradit have been declared drought-hit disaster zones.

The Royal irrigation was one of the best things the king did for his people. Too bad the gov didn't follow his guide or forethought and continue what he started.
