Last Dutch holocaust survivor Jules Schelvis dies aged 95

AMSTERDAM: -- The last holocaust survivor in the Netherlands has died. Jules Schelvis, who had been imprisoned in six different death camps throughout the war, died at his home aged 95.

Most of his family were among the 34,000 Dutch jews to have been murdered by the Nazis.

Schelvis helped to document Nazi crimes in the Sobibor concentration camp, one of three in eastern Poland.

You were a hell of a tough guy to survive seven German death camps, Mr. Schelvis, and then go on to live to be 95 and have such a rich and fulfilling life. R.I.P.

RIP.

Total respect for those who survived such wicked treatment and then managed to rebuild their lives. One can only imagine the sorrow and suffering.

I'm not sure the horrors of the death camps can even be imagined. People today think waterboarding is torture. The deniers and Jew-haters are definitely still with us: decent people around the world have a responsibility to ensure the Holocaust is never forgotten.
