SCB debit card, UK ATM

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experience of using a Thai SCB debit card at UK ATMs. If so, did it work, what exchange rate did you get, and what were the bank charges (also, if it worked, what logos do you have, mine has MasterCard). Thanks for your help.

I have used my Bangkok bank card at various locations throughout Europe including the UK.

I can not tell you the rates or charges as it was a couple of years ago.

Mine is a visa debit.

Cheers.

100 baht fee plus a 2.5% currency risk...pretty standard for Thai bank debit and credit cards. You'll get the Mastercard exchange rate since you said it has a Mastercard logo. But when taking in account the aforementioned fees the effective exchange rate will be lower. And don't forget any fee the local UK ATM may charge...kinda like how Thai ATMs hit up foreign cards for Bt200...that will impact the effective exchange rate even more.

The Mastercard exchange rate can be found here but it's always a day behind in comparison to Visa which also show current day Visa exchange rate.

See the interest and fees tab of below SCB website here it talks Cirrus ATMs:
