AOT ready to provide conveniences to passengers during Songkran festival

BANGKOK, 7 April 2016 (NNT) – Airports of Thailand (AOT) has been prepared to facilitate passenger travels at several airports during Songkran festival between April 8 and 18. The average number of passengers is expected to rise to nearly four millions daily.

AOT director Sirote Duangrat said the number of passengers at six airports throughout the country will mark a 16 percent increase from the same period last year.

The AOT director said the Passenger Facilitation Center to be set up during the festival will serve to ensure safety and provide conveniences for passengers. The center, located on the fourth floor lobby behind the R line ticketing booth, will collect traffic data to be used for adjusting manpower and service capacity to suit actual conditions while allocating adequate personnel for check-ins, baggage inspections and passport checking.

He also revealed that the AOT has stepped up security by increasing the number of its own security guards and by contracting security agencies. The AOT has also coordinated with law enforcement officers to provide additional security personnel and increase the frequency of inspections of inbound and outbound vehicles and luggage.

Mr Sirote added that passengers should take advantage of the airports' available automated services such as the Common Use Self Service (CUSS) for check-ins and the Auto Channel for automatic passport inspections.
