BANGKOK, 7 April 2016 (NNT) - The Minister of Public Health is pushing forward the policy of resolving medical reimbursements for all qualifying cases, while affirming that all hospitals stand ready to admit emergency patients during the Songkran festival.

Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn said the policy to have all hospitals ready to provide emergency treatment has been a five-year-long policy that needs to be actualized. Meanwhile, public health agencies are in agreement on a reimbursement scheme according to average hospitalization prices. The ministry is discussing with private hospitals on a reasonable reimbursement price.

Dr Piyasakol also affirmed that emergency cases during the Songkran festival will be admitted free of-charge at the hospital nearest to the scene of injury.
