AIS 30/10 Mbps vs 3BBB 100/10 Mbps?

Currently I live at Kool Punt Ville 7 near the Mae Hia market and am on the 3BBB Premier ADSL plan and want to switch to either their 100/10 Mbps fiber optic plan or go with the AIs 30/10 Mbps fiber optic plan.

My neighbor just got the 3BBB 100/10 Mbps and he typically gets around download speeds to the US at around 10 Mbps and I wonder if the typical US download speed with the AIS 30/10 Mbps plan would be about the same for this area.

AIS has no upfront fees to switch to their plan whereas 3BBB wants a 3000 baht deposit even though I have been a long term customer with them and getting deposits back is always iffy at best from my experience.

Does anyone have the 30/10 Mbps in this area and could they please tell me what kind of download speeds they have gotten with sites in the US as I would probably go with them if it is close to 10 Mbps and their service has been reliable.

Our house in in San Pak Wan area.

I switched from 3BB Premiere to 3BB Fiber and I only paid for the new router. Maybe what you are calling deposit is for a router? It was a seemless transfer as far as billing because I just rolled it over to the fiber plan for the same price... The bills just keep coming as they did before.

I also have AIS Fibre in the same house. It was not the lowest plan because that was not available in our area. However, it is only like 800 + thb per month.

I will run some speed tests in just a bit and post them for you.

Keep in mind that the speed will not be the same "to the US". You can only compare if you test the speed to the exact same server. I think...

You get 2k back if / when you give them the router back when you end contract.

3BB Fiber, wired between router and computer. When I purchased this plan it was 50/10. Now it is something like 100/30 within Thailand.

I checked my receipts.... LivinLOS is correct... I only gave them 2,000 thb.

In my opinion, different 3bb outlets can give different information. At least that is what I understand from what people post on ThaiVisa forums.

I made the change at the 3bb kiosk in Central Festival.

How much per month? How are the speeds in practice? That is indeed fast if you can get that fairly consistently.

I have the lowly adsl 10/1mb for 590. Been very reliable.

Any reason not to stick with ASDL and switch to fiber?

My speeds are consistent and rarely do I have a problem.

With the recent things going on with internet in Thailand, I had an issue. I left a message on the 3bb support form. There was a reset (I could tell when using the internet) and a call back from 3bb support in less than an hour and all was back to normal.

Prices of course are different. I pay a lot for 3bb but I have the best service yet and I have been using different isp's for many years.

3bb = 2,675.00 per month

AIS = 802.50 per month

It used to be a 2000 deposit for the router but they increased it to 3000 baht.

Again, the big question I have is what could I expect for download speeds to US websites as those are the only sites I care about and that is the reason I am curious as to what US download speeds anyone that has the AIS 30/10 Mbps plan is getting.

Basically the cost for the 3BBB 1000/10 plan is 1284 baht per month and the 30/10 AIS plan would be 1273 baht so not much of a difference.

I'm planning to switch too. I'm a few months into an ADSL contract at the moment but I think upgrading is no problem. Just pay the router deposit and up the monthly bill from 960 to 1280. Mostly I'm fine with with 15Mb tbh and the highest speeds apply in within Thailand only. I use both Netflix and iFlix here though which I guest originate from within Thailand so for the few hundred extra it will be worth it.

not sure if the companies play with words or in this case bits or bytes as there as 8 bits = 1 byte so some people say they are getting 1000 !!!!! so could in bits very confusing i say .

(1) When spelled Mbps, short for megabits per second, a measure of data transfer speed (a megabit is equal to one million bits). Network transmissions, for example, are generally measured in Mbps.

(2) When spelled MBps, short for megabytes per second.

Just look at the capitalization..

99.9% of speed quotes will be in bits so 1/8th the bytes.
