Car Transfer Tax

Recommended Posts

When filling out the transfer papers it will ask you how much you paid for the car. That's where they calculate the transfer tax. Everyone puts down less than what they paid for the car, lower transfer tax..Just don't go too low, or they will step in.

Don't like to high jack a thread but it's kinda revelant.

Firstly I have just found out there is a transfer tax on 2nd hand cars.

Like the OP I want to transfer a car into my name mitsu valued it at 500K so I'll pay 2,500 baht I believe.

I have a non O visa and my name is in the Tabian Baan as father of my kids ( not named as a Thai would be ).

Do I need to get a Yellow book or a resident letter from MFA to put in my name .

Or is what I have enough ?

There is no finance on the car.

Just a straight translation of the passport isn't enough.

Man at kaet said have to go to MFA and get it certified.

I'm thinking a cert of residence will be better. Or will a cert of residence be enough to apply for Yellow book
