BANGKOK: -- The government opened its first "Pracharat Sookjai" retail shop at the PTT petrol station in Saraburi province today to promote trade and tourism.

Official opening ceremony was presided over by Energy Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanchanarat, and attended by Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yuthasak Supasorn, SMEs Promotion Office director Mrs Salinee Wangtarn, SME Bank president Mongkol Leelatham, and Community Development Department deputy director general Thaweep Butrpho, and PTT chief operating officer Mr Sarun Rangkasiri.

The shop was set up under the project joined by five agencies to promote SMEs to have a new channel to sell their quality products, particularly the One Tambon and One Product or OTOP of village communities.

Besides, the shop will also serve as a local tourism information centre for each certain area to promote tourism.

TAT finances the establishment of the Pracharat Sookjai shop, while the four other agencies will select OTOP products for distribution at the shop, and shop management.

SME Bank will extend loans to SMEs to improve their products and sell at the Pracharat Sookjai shops across the country.

PTT will open all its 148 pumps to set up Pracharat Sookjai shops free of charge for three years with no rental fees.

The project is a first step of cooperation between the five state agencies to promote occupation to local people and also to fulfil the government’s Pracharat or Civil State far-sighted vision of “stability, prosperity and sustainability” so as to achieve a peaceful country with strong, stable and sustainable economy.

All 148 PTT pumps will open a shop rent free for 3 years ok.

Nobody does anything for nothing, so what have they been promised in return.???

TAT finances the establishment of the Pracharat Sookjai shop

So presumbably TAT (the government) will pay PTT for the initial three years rental fees?
