Rumors on 100 Songkran revelers hospitalized in Silom area dismissed as hoax

BANGKOK, 15 April 2016 (NNT) - Rumors which had been circulated in social media that over 100 Songkran revelers had been hospitalized due to illnesses caused by unhygienic water were merely found by the authorities as a hoax.

Deputy Public Health Ministry permanent secretary Suwannachai Watthanayingcharoenchai said the ministry had promptly made inquiries into the hearsay that more than 100 Songkran revelers in Silom area had fallen ill and been rushed to Lerdsin Hospital, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, BNH hospital and Charoenkrungpracharak hospital.

The authorities finally found out that such rumors were entirely groundless as no patients with symptoms allegedly related to unhygienic water have been reported at any of those hospitals, he said.

The sharing and forwarding of false information via all kinds of media could possibly be considered an offense. Thus, users are suggested to exercise discretion with any information online.

Exactly! There were no hospitalizations due to unhygienic water. They were all from motor vehicle accidents! cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

and the reported illness was ?

Usually, it's the opposite of what the police and government say, so....

and the reported illness was ?

The illness of believing every story that is posted or broadcast, I think it's called feeble mindedness.

Not in BKK. This is the only time of the year the traffic is pleasant, no BIB screwing with the traffic lights and near empty streets.
