Emergency travel for funeral - re-entry permit, new passport, visa transfer etc

Featured Replies

I need to travel immediately to UK for a funeral and would really appreciate some advice on below please while my Imm Off is closed, many thanks.

I'm currently on my 4th Non Imm O (spouse) visa extension and this will be my 1st departure.

I have 3 pages left on a UK passport expiring in 2018.

Re-entry permit

- if I want to skip the 2 WDs online booking queue can I get the permit at any Immigration Office - I live 120km from my local immigration office at Nakhon Sawan and prefer to join up permit with departure from Bkk

- what are latest unbooked queues like at Changwattana and Suvanibum Airport (anyone refused at the airport?)

Passport

- would the re-entry permit, departure and return fit on a single page

- prices are pretty similar renewing passport in UK or Thailand, so assuming no timing issues are there any advantages for place of issue (UK issue makes future travel/non-Thai visas less complicated?)

- if I renew in UK, do I still need Certificate of Embassy to transfer my visa, can that only be UK Embassy in Thailand (can visa extensions be transferred?)

Thank you again.

You can only get a re-entry permit from the office which issued your extension or from the airport.

The re-entry permit only occupies about one half of a page so if you have 3 empty pages there is no need to worry about space. (entry/exit stamps are small)

It depends on your office as to whether the Embassy letter is required to transfer your stamps from the old to the new passport.

  • You can only get the re-entry permit from the office that issued the extension of stay OR at the airport.

You only need to allow an extra 20/30 mins to get the permit at the airport. It will not be refused but make sure you take a photo with you.

Yes, the re-entry permit and stamps will fit on a single page.

It makes no difference whether you get a new passport when in the UK or in Thailand.

If you get a new passport in the UK you will need to show both old and new passports when re-entering Thailand. Once in Thailand you need to go to your local immigration office and they will transfer your extension of stay to your new passport.

You can get the re-entry permit at the airport. You will need to have a 4 X 6 cm photo. The have moved the re-entry permit office to a location before security. You will have to ask where it is located.

Effective the 20th the office will be open from 5 am to midnight (it is now open 24 hours).

If you get a new passport in the UK you will need to show both passports on entry to use your re-entry permit in your old passport.

If you need the letter from the embassy for immigration you can request one by email to the consular section.

Thank you to all of the above.

I'll get re-entry at Suv to speed things up and wait on renewing the passport until nearer the 9 months max carry over.

ubonjoe, would you know if this permit office address on the Suv website is up to date, thanks! 4th level, zone 2 at the Passenger Terminal Building on 4th level on the east side.

Really ?

When did you last do a 90 day report or get a re-entry permit other than at Jomtien?

Have you moved away from the area served by Jomtien ?

If he enters on his new passport, (ie gets an entry stamp in it), he will not need the letter to request the transfer of his extension - the letter is only needed if the new passport is totally empty.

That depends upon his local immigration office's policy. Some will still want it.

OK, sorry, that was in Bangkok.

And that most likely means it has been removed - perhaps incorrect information or for some other reason. Nothing to do with your account - the rest of us get the same notice.
