PHUKET: -- A bomb disposal squad was called on to deal with an abandoned suitcase at the Daorung Intersection in Wichit this afternoon.

Passing motorists, fearing that the lone suitcase lying in the road might be a bomb, took snapshots, which quickly went viral on social media.

“Luckily, the case was empty,” said Lt Prachpong Keawkamjan, head of the Phuket Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.

If I see this right, the bomb squad guy is wearing a bulletproof west but no helmet whatsoever nor proper protection for his hands?

I don't expect a remote controlled robot but... sigh.

He should look more like this if he'd like to keep his life:

But the US bomb disposal don't have the Thai police poking stick and thais are renound for running from the scene of any incident can't run with all that safety gear on and poking stick already detected suitcase empty
