webfact Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 CDC to seek help from three ministries to help in educating public about draft charterBANGKOK: -- The Constitution Drafting Committee will seek help from the Interior, Public Health and Education ministries for the recruitment of officials who will help in educating members of the public about the content of the draft constitution.Mr Chartchai Na Chiangmai, chairman of the CDC’s public relations and opinion survey panel, said Tuesday that five officials for each province would be recruited who would be the key resource persons to educate district-level officials about the content of the draft. Each district will recruit 20 people to attend the education programme after which they will become resource persons who will then spread their knowledge about the draft charter to village representatives. Each village will be represented by four people who include a health volunteer, chief of the village fund committee and members of the village committee. These village-level resource people will play the key role in spreading the content of the draft charter to the grassroot people.Mr Chartchai admitted that he was not worried with possible disruptions by opponents of the draft charter because the grassroot educators are empowered by law to mete out measures to deal with the problem.Regarding the proposal of the National Legislative Assembly to join the CDC in public forums to explain to the public about the question for voters in the national referendum, Mr Chartchai admitted that he was worried that the NLA’s proposed participation may cause public confusion “like a pillion rider of a bicycle who wants to go in one direction while the cyclist wants to go in a different direction.”Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/160175 -- Thai PBS 2016-04-20

phoenixdoglover Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Note that 1 million copies of the draft are supposed to be printed, whereas for the previous rejected Charter 19 million copies were planned. So the vast majority of voters will never see the Charter. It is clear the method of "education" has changed to propaganda, with a summary message disseminated by government officials. Meechai has suggested the 270 article document can be summarized in 10 points. The dinosaurs will be outflanked by social media, for better or worse.
chainarong Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 There isn't much to learn about the Charter, it's a beat up of the old Junta chronicles pre 1990 , so if the people want a totalitarian style government vote yes, if the people want a Democracy even a Thai Democracy vote No, how simple is that, bearing in mind a overwhelming No vote could also indicate a certain degree of dissatisfaction with the present administration.........................................................
yellowboat Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Clarity seems to be the junta's weak spot, along with reconciliation, governance, and economic issues. But when it comes to beach chairs and bike lanes, they have few peers.

catterwell Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I've read all the Thai constitutions to date, but can't find a copy of this latest draft. Does anyone know if and where it is available?
Hawk Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Isn't it against the law to discuss, talk about the charter?
tuanku Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 This is called the "trickle down" method of education, like when you forget to shake after using the urinal.

But when it comes to beach chairs and bike lanes, they have few peers. Presumably this is because they feel safe handing over the minor issues to someone else to act on. When military discipline consists of soldiers beating each other to death When promotion or entry to officer level is hereditary or bought When a military coup looks like a "good idea" in spite of all the lessons of history When quasi-religious sculpture park is an opportunity for government appoved graft When Admirals and Generals profit from people trafficking How can you expect good governance from an organisation such as the armed forces?

You can't, you never could. In any non-3rd-world country, this clown would already be in prison for treason. This could only happen in Angola, Botswana. DRC. And Thailand. The only African country not actually in Africa.
Srikcir Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I've read all the Thai constitutions to date, but can't find a copy of this latest draft. Does anyone know if and where it is available? According to EC member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn a smartphone application which contains the details of the new draft Constitution will be unveiled in April. However, as of April 19th the Five Rivers group has yet to meet to consider the final points of the constitution draft. And of course the "final" version will incorporate the Prologue Section and additional clarifications by the CDC after the referendum should it pass. The public may not see a complete final version until after the draft has been endorsed.
elgordo38 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 They should use this money to educate the people how bad this constitution really is for the peopleIs there a difference between educating people and promoting the charter. I thought promoting it was illegal?? I guess that excludes the government.
