BANGKOK: -- The military junta today formally asked the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police to charge former commerce minister Watana Muangsook of defying Order 39/2557 of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) banning political movement.

NCPO representative Col Charun Sangsiri filed the charge against the former Pheu Thai party key member with CSD investigator Pol Lt Col Somnuek Santipakanand for contravening the terms of condition for the release of people ordered to report themselves to the NCPO.

Watana will be escorted to the Military Court this afternoon for permission to extend his detention days.

The NCPO representative brought new evidence which is a post on his Facebook criticising the military junta to show the CSD in filing the charge.

He is now in the military custody at an army barrack in Kanchanaburi province.

What can you say?

Nothing apparently!

So now posting your own personal opinions on facebook is deemed illegal?

Thailand contunes to keep digging while already in a very deep hole. Let us hope that this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

There is no doubt it's getting very close. These fellas in uniform couldn't be digging themselves a deeper hole at the moment if every conscript in the army was given a spade.

Expect someone (Jamie??) to come along shortly and explain why this is all a very good thing.

no sympathy for the red shirt baby killers, don't forget what they did. They are just waiting to do it again too!!!

So far they have gotten off lucky.

If you only open your other eye, you will see nurse & reporter killers and even the popcorn killer.

Unless you're Abhisit.

Or Suthep

Or anyone yellow-ish.

the clown car rolls on, ...

the only good news in all this is that oppression begets resistance.

The generals appear to have never learned that lesson.

But it will still bite them in the butt and bring down their little house of cards ...

By doing this they are playing right into the hands of opponents. Let them carry on and see what more problems they can cause themselves. With a bit of luck EVERYONE will soon start posting on facebook and they will have problems arresting millions.

I think that we established a long time ago that the "ALLSEEINGEYE" only sees what he wants it to see...

Protests Called Off as Watana Released on Bail

Watana Muangsook, who served in the former Pheu Thai led government, is escorted into the military court Thursday in Bangkok

BANGKOK — Activists today canceled daily protests demanding the release of Pheu Thai politico Watana Muangsook from military detention after a martial court released him on bail this afternoon.

After spending three days in army custody, Watana was brought to the military court in Bangkok on Thursday afternoon where he was charged with violating the junta’s ban on protests. The 59-year-old veteran politician was subsequently released on a bond of 80,000 baht.

Watana Faces Prosecution for Breaking Pledge to Junta

Watana’s lawyer told the media the martial court barred him from “inciting unrest,” participating in political activities and leaving the country without its permission.

He was scheduled to be freed at Bangkok Remand Prison later Thursday night.

Prompted by news of Watana’s imminent freedom, activists canceled what would have been the third of small daily protests on his behalf, saying there’s no longer any need.

The group pledged to continue organizing resistance to the military regime.

“Resistant Citizen hereby calls a halt to the silent vigil today at BTS Chong Nonsi and the full-scale activity tomorrow,” the group wrote on its Facebook page. “However, Resistant Citizen still insists on our stance that we will continue to organize activities to defend citizens and resist the violation of rights and liberty.”

Looks like a victory for the protesters and for Wattana. A monumental victory. The junta gave in. They are obviously scared of sparking off a student uprising. Seems bullet tooth Prayut is a big wet blanket after all and Thaksin has balls of steel.

Why is the junta so afraid of verbal confrontation ? Is not reconciliation one of the goals of the junta? The ALLSEEINGEYE troll must really hate Thais. Red Shirts make up over 40% of the population.

You could get the ball rolling.

Thaksin - balls of steel? Yes he meant every word when he said he be back, standing shoulder to shoulder when the first shots were fired in 2010. He just forgot about that luxury shopping trip to Paris.

Can you prove that assertion please?

I'd guess the fact that they win every election says it all.
