Two Khon Kaen noodle shop owners summoned for attitude adjustment

KHON KAEN: - Two Ramen noodle shop owners in Khon Kaen were summoned by the military for an “attitude adjustment” session after they posted messages in the social media deemed as opposing to the military regime.

The two men, 25-year old Mr Harit Mahaton and 26-year old Mr Nithi Kooltasnasilp, were questioned for about two hours at the 23rd military circle in Khon Kaen before they were eventually escorted to Bangkok for further questioning.

Colonel Somchai Kanpachai, deputy commander of the 23rd military circle, said the duo violated the computer crime law by posting messages in the social media which were deemed resisting the government.

Citing information obtained by the army, the colonel said the two men are connected with Mr Arnon Nampa, a core member of the anti-government New Democracy Group.

He said Harit was a former Thammasat student and a former reporter who now operates a Ramen noodle shop in Khon Kaen. One laptop and a smart phone were seized from his possession.

Mr Nithi also owns a Ramen noodle shop in Khon Kaen, said the colonel.

It really worries me that many of the people arrested are very young 18 to 25 and old people such as a 59 year old woman.

This law was introduced in such a hurry and did not give people time to absorb the reality of the law. Usually new laws are discussed for a few years through parliament, which gives people time to mentally prepare for a new rule to follow. Even more confusing is there are new laws introduced almost every other week through section 44, so it becomes difficult to comprehend the value of the law.

Similar to printing so much money, the currency becomes meaningless.

I really think the government should give the public (especially very young and very old ) some time to fully comprehend a new law.

So if people swarm these guys' businesses, trying to make them wealthier in a display of support for their bravery in posting some of the thoughts that millions of others are afraid to express publicly, will those customers be taken away for "attitude adjustment" as well?

All I can say is that if things keep going in the direction we are seeing it will be unwise to even make any negative comment regarding the current government.

No there will be an uprising, there is only so much sheeet people will stand for, but dont worry they will blame everyone else except themselves first and we will be in the firing line.

Especially those of us lving in villages with wells that made an ass of themselves in front of their neighbors. You guys probably go French revolution style. (sorry for making fun but i just don't take people seriously when they talk about an uprising it just wont happen) The only ones hurting are those who were previously in power.. can't say much has changed for those at ground level. Your all acting like we are in North Korea.

Here where I live the people are not caring that much.. they are happy though that there are no bombs going off and riots. The only way there will be an uprising if people are hurt in their wallet. The only ones who are hurt in their wallet are those who were connected to the previous thugs in power.

There was no bombs or riots BEFORE the protests of a bill that was going to be shot down anyway, the current lot helped perpetuate the situation so they could grab power. Oh and there are still bombs going of in the actual real civil war in the South DAILY.

74, 76, 06, 10, 13/14 for different reasons and factions but Thailand has been politically hot and this current mob are heading for a repeat of Black May 92. Their is a vocal section of Thais NOT happy with the way things are and they are being locked up for having an opinion! That's all ok thought because "but Thaksin" right?

It's already unwise. However, they would have to track down IP addresses, then the person writing the post here (could post from anywhere or with a VPN), and comprehend English well enough to know they are being slagged. So, while it is unwise, due to their absolute incompetence, it is fairly safe.

However, posting on Facebook under your real name with photos, linked to everyone you know, you're a sitting duck.

Low hanging fruit always gets picked first.

This might come as a surprise to you but I bet there are lots of people out there who resent not being allowed a say in who is running the country. Despite the junta's otherworldly polls there is a reason they deny people the right to vote.

Good for you. Tell me, when the student demonstrations were at their worst in Europe and US in the 60's and 70's would you have preferred that the military stepped in so people would not have been inconvenienced by it all?

But the supporters are happily at it in the trough.

Here you have a perfect example of how juntas are able to succeed no matter how evil and oppressive. Some people are able to convince themselves that the elected govt were far worse. Must be some sort of self hypnosis. The reason? The elected govt were popular thus barring their party from power for the foreseeable future.

Unbelievable isn't it?

Your missing the point.. I am saying there wont be an armed rising like so many of the people are saying there will be. Not talking about the wrong or right of this situation.

As long as the normal people are not hit in their wallet nothing will happen. Sure a few political activist and people who are connected to the previous people in power are trying to stir up trouble but this is not mainstream. No matter how much you guys want it.. there wont be a reckoning there wont be violence. I dare to make a bet that this year there wont be a armed violent rising of people country wide. Do you want to take the bet ?

Just saying the majority does not really care.. even those of the PTP don't care enough to take the risks and rise. Sure a minority may.. but it just wont happen.

Sorry to disturb your dreams of a violent rising with blood in the streets and the PTP coming back that way.

It is clear from your post that you live in an average neighborhood where the people are sheeple as in the most part of Thailand, and that is what this regime relies on. The 2 shop owners subject to this thread belong to the minority in Thailand which, rightfully, stand up for their rights so their attitude must be adjusted.

You can be sure there will be an uprising in the foreseeable future, because if you look around you and in the markets and supermarkets, it is obvious that the majority of Thai people is hurt in the wallet big time already.

The normal people have been hit in their wallets. Some of the factors behind this is out of the junta's control, some are their fault. But the normal people have never mattered in Thailand, it's the big people that matter. If sanctions are imposed on the wealthy (having their overseas bank accounts frozen) then the junta leader's days are numbered.

"I dare to make a bet that this year there wont be a armed violent rising of people country wide. Do you want to take the bet ?"

No thanks. Since the army is sitting on all the big guns I think a people's uprising is highly unlikely. If there is fighting I think it will be between army factions.

"Sorry to disturb your dreams of a violent rising with blood in the streets and the PTP coming back that way."

I have never had any wishes for violence so please refrain from claiming I do.

The only way for a solution to this mess looks increasingly like a bloody revolution. Most posters here probably don't realize the average Thais blood is boiling and when the shit hits the fan, there is the distinct possibility of a civil war.
