Two Vietnamese officers suspended for arresting a whistleblower

DONG NA: -- Two Vietnamese police officers in the southern province of Dong Na have been suspended from active duty for alleged involvement in the unlawful arrest of a woman who blew the whistle on illegal sand mining activities, according to Thanhnien News.

Cycling campaign launched in Kanchanaburi to promote local tourism

KANCHANABURI, 2 May 2016 (NNT) - A cycling campaign was launched in Kanchanaburi province over the weekend to promote local tourism.


Kanchanaburi Governor Sak Somboonto presided over the opening ceremony where more than 3,000 cyclists joined.

They began their 42-kilometer round trip from Navy Market, which is located in Tha Maka district, to Mae Khlong Dam via Saeng Chu Toh Kao and Klong Chonlapratan Roads, before returning to the starting point.

The cycling event also marked the opening of a new OTOP market in Kanchanaburi. The cyclists had an opportunity to buy locally made products that are popular among tourists, such as salted eggs, tamarinds and jelly noodles.
