Two suspected ringleaders of a drug gang were arrested in Poipet town over the weekend for allegedly smuggling one kilo of crystal methamphetamine across the Thai-Cambodia border, according to officials.

Banteay Meanchey Anti-Drug Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Thin Sindeth said the suspects, 53-year-old Vann Bunthoeun and 40-year-old Chhin Vannak, were arrested when police raided their house in Palaley II village on Saturday afternoon.

“They were arrested when police raided the suspect’s house in Poipet City. After the arrest, police seized about one kilogram of ice [crystal methamphetamine] from them,” he said. He added that the pair have been charged by the provincial prosecutor and will be sent to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court for questioning today.
