Army continues peace dialogue in Deep South

BANGKOK, 3 May 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Army has continued a peace dialogue in the southern border provinces. Commander-in-Chief Gen. Teerachai Nakwanich has reported the progress of the army's work to develop the region with the Southern Border Provinces Administration (SBPAC).

The army chief on Monday said that the Southern Border Peace Talk Committee, chaired by Gen. Aksara Kerdpol, pressed ahead with the peace dialogue despite persistent violent incidents. The authorities had arrested more suspects of southern unrest-related cases and there had been progress in terms of development work and investigation, said Gen. Teerachai.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Pattani Weeranan Phengchan said the province had launched a project to bring people with a national security arrest warrant to help develop the country. The project is aimed at creating good relations between the public sector and the local people.
