BANGKOK:-- A heartbroken mother and father have reported the death of their one year old son who drowned after he toppled into a bucket containing just ten centimetres of water.

The tragic accident happened in Bang Pa-In to the north of Bangkok. While the mother was doing some washing and her son was playing with an elder sibling he crept unnoticed into a toilet and ended up head first in a bucket, reports Daily News.

A search was mounted after Thitinan (Plee) Janthapthim, just 16 months old, could not be found. A neighbour found him unresponsive in the toilets. The toddler who was adored by all in the area was taken to hospital but was soon pronounced dead.

Mother Siriwan Naphaphromthep,26, told police that Monday was her day off work and she had decided to do some washing. Plee was running around and playing with her six year old son when he went missing briefly.

A neighbour who usually looked after him when his mum was out at work found him face down in the bucket. Police who later came to inspect the scene said there was just ten centimetres of water in the bucket that was some 40 centimeters tall.

There were no signs of any foul play and they believe the toddler fell into the bucket and could not get out.

Tragic. RIP little one.

If that picture is of the place where the incident took place, the story seems a bit off: How did the toddler get head first into the bucket without knocking it over? If he did somehow manage this acrobatic feat then how did he drown? His face was flat against the bottom of the bucket??? His wriggling and kicking didn't knock over the bucket? There must have been more than 10cm of water if it really was an accident.

negligence it would normally be called

Sad story and my thoughts and questions maybe best not aired.

This isn't right to me.

dang... tragic...

This is not a water tight case...I believe there was more than 10cm of water. Though it really doesn't matter how much, it is still a negligence case...

The cops won't see it as that...I doubt it was just a few minutes the kid was missing. Playing with six year old brother...where was he and did he have a hand in it? Possible cover up on what really happens so this story clears all others ..doesn't add up...should be re-enacted - the kid doesn't do a face plant like a piece of wood... His weight would topple over the bucket as I doubt he would do a 180 on his face and maintain it - defies physics

Seems no due diligence by the police as well...

Case closed

Yup, something not right here.

Apparently you don't have kids. They topple over all the time. Falling into a bucket is very easy to accomplish. All it takes is trying to get something out of it.

If the baby fell in the bucket it would indeed have toppled..........into the wall which would have stopped it from falling over.

Or are we to believe the 6 yr old brother is a murdered ? Or maybe the babysitter did it ?

Sometimes maybe just read the story and leave the conspiracies where they belong, (In your heads)
