Department of Intellectual Property unveils services to assist new businesses

BANGKOK, 4 April 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) is moving forward in developing the country’s intellectual property system to support SMEs and new businesses engaged in innovation.

The DIP held an event recently to celebrate its own 24th anniversary, with Commerce Minister Abhiradee Tantraporn presiding over the ceremony.

The DIP plans on backing SMEs and startup businesses through an intellectual property research and analysis service to reduce the cost of businesses having to conduct their own studies.

The ceremony unveiled a commemorative postal stamp in honor of HRH Princess Sirindhorn, after the World Intellectual Property Organization presented Her Royal Highness with an award for creative excellence on August 28, 2015.

In addition, the ceremony unveiled an online trademark filing service, www.ipthailand.go.th

That way companies can quickly find what IP they want to copy or borrow without paying for it. Should save on the cost of doing business.
