BANGKOK: -- A special action force of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources yesterday removed three well-known seafood restaurants encroaching the mangrove forest at the seashore of Don Hoy Lord in Samut Songkhram province in an anti- encroachment drive on state property by influential people.

The operation was joined by over a hundred of police and soldiers as authorities feared there might be resistance by operators of these restaurants.

Accused of mangrove forest encroachment on the famous tourist spot, Don Hoy Lord, are Kun Lin, Krae Mai, and Thep Nimit.

The operation led by the special action force called “White Shark” began early in the morning.

Officials from the Land Department also joined the anti-encroachment drive of state property.

The first target was Kun Lin restaurant.

Authorities checked the boundary of the restaurant before charging its owner of encroachment.

Later Acting Sub Lt Akesitthi Hongharn showed up to declare ownership of the restaurant and denied he has encroached on the mangrove forest.

However authorities showed him satellite images of the site where his restaurant obviously encroached on the mangrove forest covering a total area of 3.8 rai.

He later said he was willing to remove the encroached structure.

Owner of another restaurant Krae Mai was also shown with satellite images for encroaching 0.88 rai of the mangrove forest, while Thep Nimit restaurant also encroached 1.84 rai.

Authorities later dismantled the encroached structures and lodged complaints with local police accusing the three owners of encroachment.

Keep it up!!!

Later Acting Sub Lt Akesitthi Hongharn showed up to declare ownership of the restaurant...

Looks like another inactive holiday coming up! I think we can all safely assume that Acting Sub Lt Akesitthi Hongharn was "acting" for someone else whose name we will never know.
