Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hey!

Thanks in advance for helping me out!!

I plan a 3 weeks stay in Thailand, then go on to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam (each around 2 weeks). From Vietnam I'll fly back to Bangkok, where I get get my flight to Sydney (Australia).

Now, I've applied for a 3 months tourist visa, with double entry. Thinking it will be no problem, just stay 3 weeks in Thailand (arriving 4/12/'06), visit the other countries and fly back into thailand on 9 or 10/02/'07 (the flight from Banglok to Sydney is on 10/02/'07).

But now I heard that this will not be that easy, since I arrive on 4/12 I'm able to stay only 60 days in Thailand, eventhough I have a visa for 3 months? I've been reading on this board, and come to the conclusion that I'll probably need to cross the border f.e. Cambodia to Thailand, before my 60 days have passed, and so get my other 30 days? Did I come to the right conclusion?

It's very confusing, especially since I only plan to be IN Thailand for 3 weeks. I just need to be back admitted into Bangkok airport when I come from Vietnam (I don't plan to get out of the airport :o) ).

Thank you!!

It would be helpful to know your nationality but let’s assume you are Belgian.

For the itinerary you describe, a single-entry tourist visa for Thailand would have been sufficient. However, since you have already sent off you application for a double-entry tourist, no harm is done as this will of course also let you travel to Thailand without any problem.

With a flight booking out of Thailand within 29 days after your arrival you would not even have needed any tourist visa at all. I assume, though, that you plan to travel by land from Thailand to Laos and therefore you did the right thing by applying for a tourist visa.

Have a nice trip!
