More thunder rainstorm forecast in North and Northeast

image-4-wpcf_728x409.jpeg

BANGKOK: -- More thunder rainstorms are expected in several northern and northeastern provinces this week, the Meteorological Department said today.

In the latest weather forecast late this morning, the Meteorological Department said as summer heat still blankets most upper part of the country, thunder rainstorms and strong winds could be expected, particularly in several northern and northeastern provinces.

They include Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Tak, Phetchabun, Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nong Bua Lampoo, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Bung Karn, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani.

It warned people of danger from strong winds, and keep away from taking cover near big trees, huge billboards and unstable structures as they might collapse during heavy rainstorms.

Is it time to go from complaining about pollution to complaining about rain?

Dangers the Met need to include in their warnings,

Flying tin roof sheeting,

drivers who can not see out the windscreen,

drivers who think their cars suddenly turn into extra wide loads

and drive in the centre of 2 lanes as they can not see the road,

having no common sense to pull over, slow down,

Stop even.

Last time, Khon Kaen wasn't mentioned, and it pissed down for hours.

Now it gets a mention, I won't hold my breath.

We got 3 good down pours at my place. All the tanks, cisterns and pots are topped up.

Not enough to do any good for the empty, local reservoir. Drove over there yesterday and was happy to see a back hoe down in there. Parked. Operator asleep in the cabin. There was a dig about 1 meter deep, by 100 feet long, 50 feet away from the embankment. I don't suppose it's an easy task digging and getting each bucket load up and out of the reservoir but this project should of been started months ago.

Good thing they don't drive in ice and snow countries! It would be mahem.

No need to worry about the Thai bad drivers, there is enough mayhem caused by idiots in those cold countries that don't know how to drive in snow and ice conditions.

A quick trip to Utube will prove that.

As I said, not a drop yesterday !

Udon Thani today.

Storm trailing from Udon Thani , Sakon Nakhon, it was some storm .

Never again will I "predict" rain! it did rain, a lot! - very nice, what was not so good was the 27 hours with no power after the rain sad.png

The garden looks like a tornado hit it and the swimming pool is full of both leaves and debris!

We have power now but not full voltage, better than nothing, Udon pretty well devastated by the storm that hit!

Pretty useless to predict anything as these storms seem to be highly localized. Wake me up when there's a real blanket storm.

When's it going to start raining in Bangkok? Too damn hot still.

I would not mind a nice storm.. though all the destruction i see from power poles.. i rather skip it.

Thunder storms and wind nearly every day up here around Korat. Finally gave us about 30 minutes of rain this afternoon without too much damaging wind. Collected lots of rain water and sure did help cool things down. Very nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had exactly these kind of storms 3 nights in a row in Luang Prabang a few weeks ago. The last one was really heavy - the whole neighborhood was in the dark.

3h Storm we thought the whole house would be blown away, a tree hit our resort, 10 lightning per sec etc. One 22 yo died in her boat rip. Honestly the scariest ish I have

ever seen.
