Oil prices volatile as Canadian wildfires overshadow Saudi change

Oil prices on both sides of the Atlantic were volatile on Monday, with US crude supported by supply outages in Canada as wildfires continued to rage in the country’s top oil-producing province.

The disruptions in Alberta — which some analysts say have affected more than 1m barrels a day of production capacity — helped offset jitters over a government shake-up in Saudi Arabia that could lead to a more aggressive oil policy driven by regional politics.
