MW Mobile cell repair at Tukcom; recommended.

Featured Replies

I can heartily recommend MW Mobile at Tukcom Pattaya, on Pattaya Tai if you need a cell phone repaired. I knew exactly which part was defective, and I already brought the part with me.

After having little luck with finding "where to go", I had luck with my teerak with me on a visit to Tukcom on the 2nd floor. This was the 2nd vendor we tried after arriving.
MW Mobile is about half-way down on the West wall of the 2nd floor of the building. Attached is a photo; the tech is visible in his work area at the back right.
They also have a FB page, but I only looked for that after I returned from their shop. Not really much information there, but you can find it easily with a Google search for "mw mobile tukcom". Photos of their business card are also attached.
I could tell they were professional; you can see in the photo they were one of the only stalls to have an actual workbench with all the necessary tools to get the phone fixed on the premises.
The problem: SIM unreadable due to broken SIM pins on the combo SIM/SD slot, and the SD card on top of it also was not readable. I'd researched Youtube and found a perfect teardown video, but decided against trying the removal/resolder steps required without all the proper tools and experience.
My fear: outlandish charges.
The result: professional service, given proper receipt of work to be done, quoted 300b per hour service charge, between 1-2 hours labor will be required.
I brought my own replacement part, which cost me all of 35 baht imported free from China. Long story short... they were ready when we returned in 2 hours and they charged me only 300b total for the 1-hour labor. Tested the SIM and the SD card and both worked perfectly. I tipped 100b for the tech and left the stall ecstatic... I was incredulous of the professional and extremely inexpensive result!
(BTW: 2 warning signs from the "1st" stall we visited: (I could not walk away fast enough!)
1. The vendor spent too long on the phone trying to get information. First, he said my part was the "wrong part", and the "correct part" would mean a 450b "special order" that would take a day or 2 to get.
2. Next, the vendor walked out from his counter shortly, obviously on his way to a different stall vendor out of sight to get their quote on the actual work.
SUCCESSFULLY AVOIDED!
Always listen to your intuition when you see these red flags!)
