BANGKOK, 12 May 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-Cha has praised the success of Shanghai's development policy and has expressed Thailand’s readiness to cooperate on all strategic fronts.

Secretary of Shanghai’s Communist Party Han Zheng paid a visit to Gen Prayut at Thailand’s Government House. Both parties affirmed their country’s willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation on all aspects.

Mr Zheng revealed China’s economic development plan for the years 2016-2020 which will emphasize environmentally friendly innovations and open markets and has issued an invitation to Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak to a visit to Shanghai to exchange knowledge and experience on economic matters.

The Thai Prime Minister praised the success of Shanghai's development policy which bears similarities with Thailand’s policies. He told the Secretary of the government’s long term strategic plan called “Thailand 4.0” which will emphasize innovation according to the sufficiency economy philosophy. He also was hopeful that Thailand could successfully learn from the success of Shanghai and expressed Thailand’s enthusiasm to accommodate investors from Shanghai.

Comrade, brother..... WELCOME to .....

It seems he'd be much happier living in China -- the country he adores.

The good general is a big talker. He will be forgotten in a few years. Less so in China.

"The Thai Prime Minister praised the success of Shanghai's development policy which bears similarities with Thailand’s policies."

Prayut has policies, or is he just going to copy.

That would be Thai innovation as he has requested his countrymen to become innovators.

Attempted diversion away from the UN Human Rights review.

Thailand 4.0? It's more like 0.0.1alpha.

The autocratic governments Nike moment - just do it! - no need for consultation. The best cities are built on the premise of decentralisation. Empowering people to make changes to their communities. Thats why good gated communities work well in Bangkok. They are (somewhat) shielded from central municipal and corrupt planning decisions. Thats also why Chinese cities are covered in pollution and ugly planning decisions. Not much to praise.

Another headline, what's the actual plan?

Praising someone else's good idea is easy, putting it into practice takes planning and commitment.

When will we see action to change?

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-Cha has praised the success...

He is just practicing for the great things coming to his home country soon, or not so soon, or somehow, or so...

Two countries with centralized government are worthy of each other praises and comradery.

According to the Mercer survey of livability among cities worldwide, Shanghai ranks #101, while Bangkok ranks #129 (falling from 111th place in 2015).

But numerous Asian cities rank higher, notably Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur.

I have never been to Shanghai. Can anyone offer a defense for that pick by the General?

Thailand 4.0? I thought we were still in a beta version.
