PHUKET: -- Milo, the 13-year-old female orangutan rescued from Phuket Zoo earlier this year, passed away last night, Wildlife officers confirmed.

Milo died from a stroke at 8pm last night following health complications due to her long-term poor nutrition and old age, according to Banpot Maleehaun, chief of Ratchaburi’s Khao Prathap Chang Wildlife in Sanctuary where she was scheduled to move later this month.

Milo was being cared for at the Phang Nga Wildlife Nursery Station when her health suddenly deteriorated.

Old age?

Really?

Orangutans can, on average, in captivity or free, reach an age of 30 years.

They usually have their first offspring at around 14-15 years old so don't buy the old age either. Died from abuse would be more accurate.

An orangutan’s lifespan is about 35-40 years in the wild, and sometimes into the 50’s in captivity. They reach puberty at about 8 years of age, but a female isn’t ready for her own baby until she’s in her teens.
