Entertainers cannot be presenters for cosmetics surgery businesses if they were given free services

BANGKOK: -- Cosmetics surgery hospitals or clinics which provide free services to entertainers in exchange for using them as presenters for their businesses are deemed as a violation against the hospital advertisements law and will be liable to a fine not exceeding 20,000 baht and another 10,000 baht fine per day until such advertisements are halted.

Health services support department director-general Dr Boonruang Trairuangworawat said Friday that the department had found out that several cosmetics surgery hospitals or clinics have used popular entertainers as presenters for their services after having provided them with free cosmetics surgery to make them look good and younger.

He noted that such advertisements are not permissible as they are regarded as a violation of the hospital advertisements law.

However, he said if there are no advertisements of the entertainers in the print, broadcast or electronic media, providing free cosmetics services to entertainers are fine and permissible.

Hub of unenforceable nonsense.

Compared to the cost of putting any such advertisements on air and the advertising value of the whiter than white, so-called "perfectly" shaped (for Thai) bodies of these celebs, the suggested fines (20,000 baht and another 10,000 baht fine per day) are a joke.

What about people who are shareholders in a school who are also high up in the ministry of education?

People employing family members into government positions?

Foreign teachers being employed because they're handsum?

Thailand is still a firm believer of "rules are there to be broken"

A straight out conflict of interest , something similar to politicians declaring their interests in companies and investments.............................coffee1.gif

Make them pay 1 baht for the surgeries etc, job done. 1508623.GIF

Can non-entertainers get cosmetically fixed and be presenters?

If that is the case Thanks! Put me first on the list wink.png

Hub of unenforceable nonsense.

Maybe they could make a start with the pills, potions and lotions which are advertised regularly with no scientific evidence that they do any good? This powder makes you taller / whiter / smarter etc

Sort of a basic Consumer Protection Law?

This will get Thailand into a problem with the Obama Administration, for abuse of transsexuals.

Hub of unenforceable nonsense.

Right. Another government brain fart. Impossible to enforce.

A tad off topic.. but why are the same maybe a dozen "celebs" on on tv all day, everyday? (of course I understand the financial contracts,, just seems so few)

A tad off topic.. but why are the same maybe a dozen "celebs" on on tv all day, everyday? (of course I understand the financial contracts,, just seems so few) I guess they are popular and fun.

Personally I like it when "presenters" actually use the products they represent rather that

say or endorse anything for a buck/baht. smile.png

I wonder if this "law" will apply to any/all beauty advertising including weight loss and skin whitening, which seem to thrive on "celebrity" endorsements and TV game show sponsorship?

Why not?

With all the ordinary girls walking around BK who don't need any work done it makes you wonder about all these entertainers and what they really look like!

The worst part of the BKK airport is after you go through security and then you're suddenly on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and you have to look at advertising posters of Europeans.

Plus bottled water goes from 10B at the 7 on the street side to 40B, minimum.

I'm going to Manhattan next weekend. I'll let you know if I see any movie stars who haven't had some "work" done, 555
