Amr
I'm interested on buying a Delonghi fully automatic espresso latte coffee machine through ebay or amazon .... It's sold here as well but with a huge deference in price between both Lazada and Ebay, simple question, does it worth to get it shipped or save my self a hassle and get it through Lazada? I know about the customs but i can't figure out how much i would pay. Thanks .... Edited May 14, 2016 by Amr
Sophon
I wouldn't take the risk of buying abroad on an item as expensive as this, you never know how much you will end up paying in duty and tax. A quick search of the internet seems to indicate that the duty rate for coffee and tea makers is 40%, not to forget the 7% VAT. So you will end up paying about 50% total in duty and tax on whatever valuation the customs department decides on. With that in mind it seems that the price on Lazada is actually very reasonable. Of course, you could end up being lucky that your package slips through the fingers of customs, but you could also find yourself with a valuation that far exceeds the actual value of the machine. There is no way to know in advance. Sophon
Amr
Well ... Thank for your response .... Paying around $900 more is a bit silly putting in mind that how many people would buy this machine here in LOS ... Would understand a price hike on an item if there is a rush to get it by the consumers ... But look at the lazada original price ?! It's around $4000 ! Vs ebay price $2,200 ! Thats $1,900 extra payed on duty ! Thats insane !

If you take a look at "Hot top deals", you will find products supposedly discounted 95% or more but it's quite obvious that the original price is totally unrealistic. Just look at the current price and ignore any declared original prices. Sophon
jadee
I agree with the other posters that you would pay more in import duty were you to buy on ebay compared with Lazada. Another important factor is warranty - especially on such a costly item - maybe email Lazada to ask about whether the machine comes with a warranty. If it does, then it makes sense to buy from that site.

Sawan Chan 7
3 in 1 birdy is much cheaper. Waste of money in my opinion.
12DrinkMore
Why are these coffee makers so expensive? You can buy two Honda Waves for that price. Try the Vietnamese Deluxe Option. http://www.amazon.com/Half-Dozen-Vietnamese-Slow-Drip-Single-Cup-Stainless/dp/B008616LDA%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q%26tag%3Dduckduckgo-d-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB008616LDA Six sets for 700 Baht. Add in a Honda Wave to buy the coffee and you still have 40,000 Baht left in the bank.
12DrinkMore
3 in 1 birdy is much cheaper. Waste of money in my opinion. Too much sugar. A couple of years ago there were some "low sugar" options. Can't find them now. Maybe with the new sugar tax they will come back again? I buy the instant coffee and add milk. However the kettle was a hefty investment, about 500 Baht. lj cm
Have you been to Central/Robinson?. They have a good selection of DeLonghi.
FracturedRabbit
It's 146,000 baht on the importer's website: http://www.thiptanaporn.com/en/brand/1/DeLonghi/ As someone has mentioned; perhaps wise to buy in Thailand for warranty purposes; especially for a machine of that value and complexity. Something that size will certainly not slip through customs!
Sayonarax
eBay has a global shipping program now.. you pre-pay the taxes before it arrives and they have to take care of it. Don't listen these buffoons, who most likely get their wives to buy their underwear for them.

Dismissing the posts of everyone who was just trying to help by labeling them buffoons; classy. eBay does have a global shipping programme; but not all vendors use it, and personally I try to avoid because the fees involved are not transparent and very high. They may pay the taxes for you; but they charge you heavily for the service. And it takes much longer to arrive.

DLock
Beyond the tax issue...and you will get caught for something that large... I'd be worried it would arrive in working order. Would the local importer fix something that he did not sell? Or would it have to go back again if it was broken?
balo
Why don't you just buy a cheaper and reliable coffee maker? I paid €300 for my Phillips Saeco Xsmall , with built-in grinder. It still works perfect after 3 years. I brought it with me on the plane from Greece, so never paid any customs. I think Phillips Saeco is a popular brand also here in Thailand. Boncafe is the dealer here, you can try to contact them . boncafe.co.th/en/product/philips-saeco-xsmall/

Amazing how many threads there are where someone asks for advice about a particular item result in a torrent of suggestions to buy something else!
