Story by Albert Jack

PATTAYA: -- On May 15 Swanya Saema posted an appeal on the ‘We Love Pattaya’ Facebook page after her brother, a Thai Tour Guide, was tricked out of 7000 Baht by an Arab couple in Pratumnak Hill, Pattaya.

A clip showed twenty-four year old victim Winai Ploykamol browsing in 7/11 on Soi 5, Pratumnak when he was approached by an Arab man, who as with his wife and child, and asked for help in using Thai banknotes.

He later informed reporters that he was buying items close to his hotel when the Arab family asked for his help and as a Tour Guide felt it was his duty to assist the tourists. However, after showing the man notes from his own pocket the Arab man tricked him by pretending to study the money carefully before handing back Mr Ploykamol’s wallet.

Hehehe...I want comment but can't stop LAUGHING?????????????

Poor lad, I hope the Arabs are caught. I've never trusted Arabs or North Africans.

Poor lad, trying to make an honest living in Pattaya and gets stung by vermin.

I hope he gets his brass back and then some from the villains...

Classic; "Can I see you wallet and your banknotes kind sir" says the Arab. "Ok, here's your wallet back and thanks for the banknotes". Unbelievable Thai hospitality thinks the Arab family on their way home.

Yep. No problem. Have a rummage through my wallet. cheesy.gif

Poor guy , try to do good.

Learned this lesson the hard way but i hope it will not change his heart.

7000 in his wallet. Good going for a lad.

Nasty sting by those Arabs, they should be able to behave better than that. After all, Arabs richer than farangs aren't they?

Not uncommon for a tourguide.. they get money from tour companies to pay all the expenses their clients make during their trips. I feel for this guy i hate thieves no matter what nationality they are. I feel Dutch thieves are the worst.

Classic Goon Show.

"Open your wallet and say after me; Help yourself"

"Help yourself"

"Thank you very much".

One of the oldest Arab / Indian scams in BKK. New to Pattaya?

maybe 'critical thinking' could have helped... facepalm.gif

I hope they chop off his right hand when they catch him.

Fool of a man,and thats that!

He described the Arab man as 'between thirty & forty years old'.

When asked to describe his wife, he said 'a pair of eyes'.

I have to call BS on this one!

Why would anyone in their right mind hand a stranger their wallet?

Middle aged white men do it all the time and some even marry said strangers

Absolutely nothing new about this sort of scam, which is a favourite with middle Eastern scammers.
