Ministry of Public Health gives health advice to parents of young students

BANGKOK, 19 May 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health is providing tips for parents on how to ensure the mental and physical readiness of their children at the start of the new school semester to ensure optimal development and knowledge retention.

Minister of Public Health, Sophon Mekton said schools should ensure the cleanliness of their facilities to prevent common diseases such as dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease and food poisoning affecting children.

Meanwhile, parents should ensure that students receive proper nutrition, especially at breakfast, in order to ensure optimal development and ability to acquire knowledge as well as boost natural immunity to diseases. In addition, adequate sleep will also enhance a student’s readiness to learn in the morning.

A common mental issue among kindergarten students is fear of separation from parents. Symptoms can include low fever and nausea. Parents should therefore communicate with their children and shorten the time of separation.

Yes I'm sure the millions of poorly educated rural parents will fully understand the psychological effects on their children. Well documented that undereducated farmers know nutrition and psychology. Another Elitist pontificating to the masses to feel self important. Dork!

All these waste of space 'initiatives' do is guarantee legal budget 'disposal' for the people behind them, at both central and local government level.

With never any publicly available evidence of a tangible well thought out campaign, outcome studies, review or follow up, you can bet that these initiatives simply provide the justification to line someone's bank account.

Wow! Make sure you feed your kids and that they get enough sleep. And if they are anxious, we should communicate with them. Such great advice.

I'm so glad Khun Saphon enlightened everyone. Who knew?

He has the super duper soong mahk mahk master's doctor phd degree in child welfare. Good stuff. Should be taken seriously.

I wish I could be paid to dish out folky homilies to the unwashed and unfed masses.
