The original tale was that you'd be met airside and escorted through. The Thai speakers were all foreigners ?

Sounds like the immigration officer at the Elite desk had nothing to do so was processing Thai residents to fill time.

I don't know if they were Thai but they were speaking it - dey were Asian that's all I could say really. They also had Thai Elite stickers on some of their bags and their checkin only seemed to involve them handing a card over and den dey went through. Lines were kinda packed and he left as soon as dees guys went through and turned others away. So I'm assuming he was stictly for Thai Elite members. Nice

That's something you would expect for a bargain price of 25,000 US$.

Yes, there is a special counter and stickers for your luggage, which you do not pick up yourself, the Elite staff will do and can find it easily. They bring the luggage through customs, where usually no check takes place and call you in the lounge (only soft drinks, I hear) once your luggage is in the limo.

Well, not enough for me to buy the card. I have a friend so, who did and he gets 10% discount for the duty free he brings to me.

'em look like Dr Thaksin's card and save on design costs.

I took a picture of the deserted Elite counter at immigration last week, with a very nasty and dirty looking "Welcome" rug in front of it. (Though the dirtyness doesn't show that well in the phone-camera picture).

It looked kind of pathetic. ;-)

That was the whole idea - but with only 400 genuine card-holders, surely the guys at the airport know them all by name? (and their wives, g/f's, golf handicap and so on)

Toxic thinks 1 million is too cheap. I think they should just bump it up to some round number like 10 million. Of course, they have to give most of them away free. This whole b.s. scheme is going to end of costing someone money. Maybe they should throw in a telecom licence with the card.

Nana should have a Elite Card. NEP Elite Card or Sex Tourist Elite Card. Something catchy.

It would be more useful than Thai Elite which should be renamed. Maybe call it Thai Deceit Card
