I have a NON-O visa granted for 90 days, but I don't want to use it at my first entry ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have issued a Non-O visa for 3 months, but I don't want to use it at my first entry, ( I would like to save it for my second entry ) it's possible to ask it to the officer ? it can be granted or not.. or depends on the officer mood ? by the way I will be with my Thai daughter and me..at the passport control, my girlfriend she's in Thailand already.

I will arrive at Suvarnabhumi

Thanks

can not save visa's,

what are your dates of entry and departure, maybe a re-entry permit or a 30/60 day extension will hepl

You may be able to. Do not put the visa # on the arrival card. Put visa exempt or leave blank.

You can also ask the officer not to use it if you see him eyeing the page.

I do not know of any law requiring that an issued visa must be used on the first [re]entry to thailand.

I thought that VISAS start running the second they are issued by the consulate/embassy in question.. So better go to Thailand as fast as possible after receving your VISA,,,, or wait to buy the VISA until the very last minute before you travel to Thailand..

Right or wrong??

A single entry visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. For single entry visas you loose no days by getting it early as long you enter before it expires.

With a multiple entry visa it important to get the visa as close to the date you will be entering the country as possible in order to get the longest total stay possible,

You will need to use your non o to enter on first entry for planned visit to los. When you leave obtain a reentry permit at airport.

i had a similar situation a while back i contacted the Hull consulate they advised to staple the pages containing the visa together

yes it worked but i did notice the corner staple had been detached for a peek i guess but i came in on visa exempt and one month later activated the visa when i returned from a visit to New Zealand

That is correct.....but note it is called a Single Entry visa.

You may get a 90 day permisssion to stay on entry....but once such a visa is used there can be no nd entry on a single entry visa

Extensions may be possible on that single entry visa....but once it is used and stamped used....there is no 2nd entry possible on a single entry visa.

Sorry, i think this comment may have been double posted...my error.

You were lucky then.

Stapled togerher pages in a passport are a source of suspicion for many immigration offiials and could cause you problems.

Rather like waving a Red Flag in front of a Bull.

seemingly yes from your report, is this from experience ? because i have as yet to see a post about this being a problem

I must be missing something on this thread. I was under the impression that its illegal to tamper with ones pp. Yet here we have a suggestion from a consulate to "staple pages together" ....might be idea for banned stamp.5555

The op should use his visa to enter the country. A reentry permit will allow him to exit and reentry if before "enter before date" If that doesn't suit him then its just poor planning. Sometimes you can't change plane flights nor visas. Cop it.

May it's possible to ask kindly to the officer don't stamp the visa yet ? hope he will don't get mad.

You can ask.

The immigration officer will not "get mad" but s/he will likely refuse your request and use the visa.

Yes, if he's unable to avoid using the non-imm O on his first entry, before traveling he could get a re-entry permit that would preserve his original 90 day entry and then apply at immigrations for a 60 day extension to visit his Thai child .

From the Police Order.

2.24 In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time.

(1) Proof of relationship.

(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto.

If they dont allow you to do that then just use it next time you come in get a 30 day visa exempt and when that nearly finsihed go the immigration and get a one off 60 day visa to stay to visit your daughter.

You may be able to talk the IO on arrival into not using the visa, however the chances are quite good that they will use it.

Also even if the first IO does admit you on a visa exempt stamp the IO on exit may decide that the first officer made a mistake and cancel the visa on exit.

I got lucky once and was able to save a visa and use an exempt entry, but it needed a lot of persuasion by my wife for both in and out IOs (no money changed hands) FWIW the first entry was for 1 night only and I had tickets for the next day to Singapore.

I would never plan for it again.
