Nakhon Pathom villagers demand transparency in new motorway project

NAKHON PATHOM, 22 May 2016 (NNT) - Villagers from Nakhon Pathom province are demanding that the government investigate the construction of the Bang Yai - Kanchanaburi Motorway, claiming they were never informed of the nature of the project and its implications on the community.

Residents of Laem Bua subdistrict have claimed that they were not informed of the environmental impact assessment and were left out of stakeholder meetings on the project.

Therefore, the residents concluded that the project was conducted in a non-transparent and unethical manner. They have petitioned Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-Cha to review the project based on facts and transparency.
