BANGKOK, 25 May 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Finance has made plans to request a loan of 17 billion baht from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for investment in Thailand’s public transport sector.

Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) Director-General Suwich Rojanawanich disclosed the plan, stating that Minister of Finance Apisak Tantiworawong has already begun discussions with ADB. The ministry is seeking between 10-17 billion baht to invest in developing the nation’s public transport systems from constructing new railways to improving roads.

The ministry has opened itself up to guidance on its projects from the ADB as well as on E-Payment systems and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

The PDMO explained that while most infrastructure projects of the government are PPP, some require that the state seek out its own loans for investment. Many of the electric train projects are being realized through state acquired loans. It assured that each decision was made carefully and based on the needs of the project.

Truly a man of vision.

Maybe he could start with replacing the the splonk filled, 1960's open windowed, crash gearbox public buses in Bangkok driven by racing maniacs who think it is their bounden duty to throw standing (and seated) passengers around the cab like rag dolls.

All the time while allowing passengers to enjoy the blasting 1,000 decibel Isaan music of the drivers favourite choice.
