more info mate

Thats what I am looking for Bronco....I want to know if any ex-pats play and where?

I am past Golf now and need something a bit easier :o

I meant what is the game?

Is it the one they play in pommyland, using lawn bowls and a raised section of green?

Correct Bronco...Lawn Bowles, where all the oldies congregate for an afternoon of tea scones and idle chit chat :o

In the UK there is a club in every town and most villages, a freind told me that its quite big in NZ and Ozz as well.

I have googled it but found nothing here in LOS :D

Does anyone on the forum like to play the above?

If so where do you play?

Cheers

There used to be, 3 or so years ago, a bowls green and club in Pattaya just off Soi Bukao near the X ite (?) night club. But last I saw of the green it was looking a bit sickly.

I play competion lawn bowls here in Oz, but as far as I know they dont play crown bowls here, if thats the game I described earlier.

I have played competition bowls in noo zeelund also and never seen it played there, on the north island anyway.

I've seen crown bowls at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club - it was mostly young people playing, well relatively young. You have to be signed in by a member, or spend 2million baht or so. The food is cheap though.

What's the diff between lawn bowl and crown bowls.

I have a mate that plays lawn bowls, but only because the grog is cheap.

your bowls team is pretty good chucky, considering most of the greens there are shit, they have cochela turf growing on allmost a clay/sand base.

not the best surface to play on, they use skrims, or tacked down shade cloth to protect the ends.

but when you play on shit greens and come to good ones your game improves.

I think you mean the Polo Club in Soi Polo off Wireless Road – near the Lumpini Poliec Station.

The RBSC in Henri Dunant does have a Lawn Bowls Links but its very narrow - only 2 or 3 lanes at best - and is rarely used anyway.

The Polo Club has a large, square Links and it is used extensively – but I have only ever seen Lawn Bowls played there, never Crown Bowls.
