stoneyboy
I've left already so here goes. Obviously the weather it's absolutely crap here in East Anglia at the moment,so much for flaming June. Some not all of the food,I had an extensive list of favourites,to many to list but the usual suspects would be up there. Late night food stalls and generally being able to eat where and when, back to set meal times here in the UK although the extensive selection of foreign cuisine available some what makes up for that. Cheap diesel and running costs of a car. Riding motorbikes,I currently have none,I had 3 in Thailand. The outdoor parties with expat friends and the abundance of food and fantastic service from the wives and family. Swimming,I swam much more in Thailand for obvious reasons, again it's expensive here in the UK and indoors. Random road trips with the family, exploring towns and cities and staying over for a few nights. Cheap accommodation, hotels are crazy expensive now in the UK and often of poor standard. Saturday meet ups at the village market with the local expat lads. Finally my ex girlfriend and step son, even after all the drama we had, maybe that will pass in time,I've only been back in the UK 6 weeks.
richard_smith237
Genuinely.... a lot of things... For all of Thailand's faults, many of which are widely discussed on ThaiVisa.com, many of which are not faults solely recognised by foreigners but also recognised and discussed heavily in Thai forums.... All of these faults are outweighed by the positives... Those positives are not singularly huge, but in the aggregate they achieve a positive bias which makes it worthwhile living here... In no particular order and not limited to.... 1) Weather... Yes, its staggeringly humid... but the alternative in the UK is worse... by comparison the weather is great here. 2) Food... The variety of quality food in Thailand is astonishing... prices to fit any budget - Japanese food here is great, I'd miss Thai food if I were anywhere else. 3) Life... I work in Asia, My Wife is from Thailand, My Son is at kindergarten here... All of these could easily change, but we're happy here. 4) Friends... I have great close friends, Thai and Western whom I see and socialise with regularly, at the Pub, a BBQ, dinner party etc.. 5) Activity... Golf (not so regularly). Football, I still get to play a few times per week which I thoroughly enjoy. 6) Social life... When I choose, usually once or twice per week I can go out for some drinks with a close friend. 7) Travel... Within Thailand, some pretty reasonable resorts that do not cost an arm and a leg and can be reached with minimum effort. 8) Education... Yes... thats right !!!.. If you can afford it, the Top schools here are very good... (Overseas Uni though !)... Edited June 1, 2016 by richard_smith237
Agent Sumo
1. The food - So delicious, so abundant, so cheap 2. Public transport (certainly in Bangkok). BTS, MRT, motorbike taxis, standard taxis - Again, all so cheap and in abundance 3. Accommodation - Incredible range of options at all price levels 4. Lifestyle - Actually, no. My lifestyle in London - bars, clubs, the car I drove, my friends - was far better if far more expensive. 5. Weather - It's cooled down a bit since the daft temps we saw last month. I like it

mcfish
Dave 2 nailed it! I had a beer a few days ago at Big Dog's in Nana Plaza to watch the happenings come and go. All of sudden I heard this bar girl say to this poor guy behind me: What you name, where you come from, what hotel.....bla bla bla. I couldn't take it so moved a few seats away and right into a cloud of cigarette smoke. Didn't even finish my one drink, paid my tab and went back to my apartment. That was the final straw. After three years here on a retirement visa, I am packing it in. Finished. Going back to beautiful Hawaii at the end of my lease in July. I am done here. Cant understand why you left Hawaii in the first place

TuskegeeBen
Moved to Cambodia last year, i dont miss Thailand at all its the hub of BS. Cambodia, compared to Thailand (huh?) is definitely a "no contest" scenario. But whatever floats your boat, and best wishes to y'all, Cheers,
TuskegeeBen
What would i miss about Thailand .. easy.. All the bickering on Thai visa. Colin is politely generous. All the childish (constantly present posters) "farang" bickering on TVF, would be more appropriate,

Agent Sumo
Moved to Cambodia last year, i dont miss Thailand at all its the hub of BS. People only move to Cambodia when they can't afford Thailand any more People tend to find a way to heap praise on Cambodia when it's the only choice in their price range that still gives them access to attractive women Tell us, did you say the same thing when you left whatever country you lived in before you moved to Thailand? Agent Sumo
Well you should know because anybody who wasn't an idiot would know it's primarily a visa thing, it certainly isn't financial because Cambodia is not noticeably cheaper than Thailand. "Primarily"?? Whatever you have to tell yourself, mate A favourable visa system doesn't make up for living in a lawless shithole with crap infrastructure Cambodia is significantly cheaper than Thailand re living costs

"Cambodia is significantly cheaper than Thailand re living costs" No it isn't Cost Of Living Comparison Between Thailand And Cambodia Fortunately the important things in life, beer, cigarettes and weed are cheaper in Cambodia. Angkhor beer, the best beer in asia by far is a dollar a pint during happy hour, happy hour where I drink is 10am to 10pm LOL. NoshowJones
all of that + getting my leg over with amenable girls half my ageIn the UK, just pay them, lie them down, put a blanket over their head, then down to business. And you guys wonder why women aren't interested in you back home. Maybe you could work on your charm a little? Being a musician and having the looks to match, I never had any problems getting Scottish birds. There was always plenty of them interested.
