Thai trade and business development centers hit success in eight ASEAN countries: Commerce minister

BANGKOK, 2 June 2016 (NNT) – Commerce Minister Abhiradee Tantraporn disclosed that nine Thai trade and business development centers have been open and well received since the last three years in eight ASEAN countries.

More than 20,000 people have visited and used the services of those Thai trade and business centers which were expected to see an additional 25,000 by the end of 2016.

At least 50 of those service users have been succeeded in opening a business in the ASEAN markets. During the first quarter of this year, there were 1,675 Thai service users.

The centers will serve as a hub to provide information and advice to Thai entrepreneurs who seek information on business and investment opportunities as well as procurement of raw materials in the region.

Who writes this stuff?

8 offices open for 3 years.

20,000 services users over 3 years.

Q1 2016 1,675 users.

2016 user expectations 25,000.

50 service users have opened a business in ASEAN markets.

Sounds like a perfect example for a study of cost/benefit analysis.

"ASEAN Hubs" seem to be the flavour at the moment.

Just the other day we had an ASEAN Justice Hub courtesy of the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme. Where better place to have a crime hub than Thailand which surely is the centre for crime itself and the most experienced with crime and injustice out of all the ASEAN countries.

Now we have multiple Business Hubs throughout ASEAN countries to help with Thai business development outside their own country. The government is having difficulty in stimulating investment within Thailand so now they encourage Thai businesses to take their investment money to other ASEAN countries and spend it there.

Thai big business has just woken up to the fact that the smart money is going to any ASEAN country other than Thailand and you don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to work out why. Here are two such examples.
