Con Man Robs Pattaya Short Time Hotel
Story by Albert Jack

PATTAYA: -- At 1.30pm in the afternoon of Wednesday June 1 a theft was reported at the Viva Hotel in Soi Paniadchang, Central Pattaya.

The hotel, catering for short-time occupation, complained that a well-dressed man, driving a Toyota Prius, booked room 13 at around 10am. At 11.50 a nineteen-year old hotel worker noticed the man in the downstairs area and asked him if he was checking out, before continuing to serve other customers.

He then noticed the suspect driving away from the hotel and so sent upstairs to check on the room and found a 40” flat screen television, a wall mirror, shower gel and soap all missing.

Nicked the soap even. Classy place, though; love the carport curtains.

How can you nick soap and shower gel from a hotel? Are they not gratuities?

How is it no CCTV of him hauling the 40" flatscreen in the back of his car? Might not be all it seems to be.

They do have CCTV but the clever guy wrapped everything up like a body and security didn't think he was stealing anything.

The hotel staff are unable to explain how nobody noticed a 40” flat screen TV being carried through the lobby or why there is no CCTV coverage of that.

This "Short-Time" Hotel has no "Lobby".

The car port under the room, with a cover across the car port entrance, would conceal loading the flatscreen into a vehicle.

This story has no accuracy.

I've been to Viva hotel twice in the last month. While waiting for my change in the car park, I noticed there's a camera. This is Thailand so:

a) The camera does not work.

b ) The employee doesn't look at the CCTV monitors.

c) All of the above.

You forgot (d)...this is Thaivisa so you didn't read the report properly, it's only because of CCTV that the police got his registration number.

Oh, I see.Transporting a corpse to your car is considered normal behaviour there.

Didn't anyone think it slightly odd, that someone would check into a short time hotel alone?

Nothing odd about it. I stay and stayed nearly always in short time "pampam" motels ( alone) .

They are cheap , aircon and most of them seperate parking . ( some have even free porn on tv , sssst !)

Well he certainly didn't fold it up!

Not normally something one can sneak past reception with, but I admire their discretion if they looked the other way!
