What type of visa do you have now?

You can apply for a single entry tourist visa at a nearby embassy or consulate.

From Bangkok most people go to Vientiane Laos to get the visa.

Single Entry Tourist Visa for three months

That is what I thought you had but wanted to be sure. Saying three months is bit misleading since it is valid for entry for 3 months but it only allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days.

You will have no problem getting another tourist visa.

  • It is unlikely that you could stay for 6 months using the visa exempt scheme.
  • You should have no problem staying 6 months with two Single Entry Tourist Visas (SETV). When your current permit to stay ends go to Vientiane and get a new SETV which will give you 60 days on entry. Extend that stay by 30 days at a local immigration office for 1,900 baht. At the end of that 90 days go back to Vientiane (or another Embassy/Consulate) for a second SETV which you can also extended.
