webfact
NIETS preparing to clarify errors in O-NET examBANGKOK, 8 June 2016 (NNT) – The National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS) has admitted there was a slight mistake in the recent Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) and is ready to clarify the matter soon.Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) Karoon Sakulpradit has responded to online claims that as many as five questions in the O-NET exam on social studies recently taken by Mathayom Suksa 6 students had wrong answers and that a number of other questions were also ambiguous. The Secretary-General affirmed that OBEC was not involved in the preparation of the exam while expressing concerns for students whose scores might have been affected by such errors. He insisted that NIETS has been trying to prevent problems from occurring and officials are looking for ways to ensure that contents of different textbooks are not in conflict.Meanwhile, after meeting with other officials of the agency, NIETS Director Samphan Panpruek made known that only one question, rather than five, was found to have been given a wrong answer. For clarity, he said NIETS will unveil all of the featured questions and answers to the public in the near future.-- NNT 2016-06-
thesetat2013
How can OBEC not be involved in this? With statements such as these it goes a long way to show students how to pass the buck and blame others. Surely OBEC approves all textbooks used in classrooms. So if they approved it and the textbooks differ in content them it is ultimately OBEC'S fault and even though they did not prepare this test, they surely reviewed it and approved it's content. DavisH
Too bad these exams are Top Secret.....I guess we know why..many of the questions are repeated in subsequent years. It makes more sense to write new exams each year and make old copies available online for practice, as happens in other more developed nations.
