Dhammakaya temple asks for indefinite postponement of medical check for its abbot

BANGKOK: -- Wat Dhammakaya has unofficially asked for indefinite postponement of a visit to the temple by a team of special lists from the Medical Council to examine the conditions of its embattled abbot, Phra Dhammachayo.

Medical Council president Dr Somsok Lohlekha told the media today (Wednesday) that the council was informally informed by an official of the temple of the postponement of the specialists’ visit to the temple for an indefinite period.

In other words, he said that he understood that the temple wanted to scrap the examination by specialists from the Medical Council. However, he said he would wait for an official notification from the temple which was expected later today.

Once an official notification was received from the temple, Dr Somsak said he would report to the general meeting of the council scheduled tomorrow.

He noted that whether there is an examination of Phra Dhammachayo’s conditions or not, it will have no effect whatsoever on the case and on the requirement for the embattled abbot to report himself to the Department of Special Investigation to acknowledge the charges of money laundering and receiving stolen items.

Dr Somsak, however, admitted that the Medical Council would feel greatly relieved if there is no examination of the abbot by the council’s team of specialists because there will be people who are against or support the council’s role anyway.

“Hence, no examination is the best way out,” said the council president.

In other words, leave us alone, we don't want to comply nor give a damn what you order us to do,

we're, so powerful and rich you have nothing over us as we're above the law, and men of the cloth,

these laws are for the common people, and clearly we are not......

ACT 9

No examination is the best way out, as is no investigation, no arrest and no prosecution.

Let's see how much of this slowly falls into place as there's no indication the abbot is in any rush to co-operate far less surrender and the authorities aren't exactly pushing the matter forward.

Plenty of work for committees though.

They should all be thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed. And some foreigners think corruption is okay because salaries are low. I wouldn't give these lot an unpaid internship. You don't need to be good at your job when you can just lie and cheat your way through life. A vicious cycle.

Charge the whole lot of his supporters with Obstruction of justice for interfering with an investigation.

This is getting beyond a joke.

More bulls..t, more delaying tactics, we are BUDDISTS we are above the law.

We do not care about what you want. We are above the law, !! UNTOUCHABLE !!

Nobody D.S.I. courts, PM can touch us.

Better way to put it, nobody has the balls to go against us.

Editorial correction: Dhammakaya temple asks for indefinite postponement of medical check arrest for its abbot

Prayut;s reform of justice is alive and well ... for those who are not equal.

Good summary... friends in high places, nothing to answer for, now fark off you bloody plebs....cheesy.gif

and then we have to remember the spiritual guidance left by the Minister trying to put a positive spin on Thailand's tourism image ..."trust me, we are Thai"

the council was informally informed by an unofficial official to definitely postpone the abbots check-up indefinitely.

Upon hearing this, the DSI went indirectly into a general, unofficial and indeterminate period of sulking.

While the Thai public, watching this show, continued to eat popcorn.

If I were Phra D I'd be looking over my shoulder. I would imagine there are many both in and out of temple who would prefer he never speak on these things. There are ways other than stonewalling to keep him from talking......

When are the people going to see this monk for what he really is? They refused the doctors one time already for unknown reasons and now they want an indefinite delay in sending others. I suspect their reasoning is split an excuse that the last doctors wouldn't do what the monk wanted and now they fear they won't get doctors to come that will follow blindly what is told to them. Yet, here that man sits, still fleeing justice behind a temples gates. This is a fine display of Buddhism and the world is surely watching what is happening. Not just this temple but many others that are in the spotlight right now.

A total farce.

Arrest the criminal.

time for the pm to show some strength and stop all this bullsh*t, no one is above the law, especially a corrupt monk. This is making Thailand a laughing stock for the rest of the world, so much for being worried about losing face, they need to send in authorities now to arrest this cretin and have him transported to hospital if he is truly as sick as hey say, so far it is all simply hearsay, no proof has been tendered or allowed to be proven by independant doctors examinations, why is that.

In Thailand it's so easy for prominent people (Big Noodles) such as this prominent monk to keep from being arrested by playing delaying games like this....like watching an endless ping-pong game. Big Noodles can usually keep govt agencies such as the police at arm's length indefinitely until most everyone loses interest. But for a Little Noodle it can be a much different story.

Generally if you ask a Thai friend, in-law, etc., how they feel about it being so hard-to-impossible sometimes to bring a Big Noodle to justice, they will not give an affirmative answer either way as in saying No, It's Not Right. Instead, they just give an answer along the lines of, That's Just the Way It's Always Been in Thailand.

When he dies, the police will be invited to interview him first!

Well there's precedent, didn't they recently charge a dead man with attempted murder ? cheesy.gif

The power off an orange robe.

Shows how powerless armies are against non-violent civil disobedience. Such a shame it is for an individuals personal benefit rather than a mass movement aiming to restore a democratic government.

"...a visit to the temple by a team of special lists from the Medical Council"

...what comes after 'pathetic'......???

...and yet the charade goes on......

It's time to Arintharat 26 and Naresuan 261 to visit the sect....

I think that God in creating man somewhat overestimated his ability. - Oscar Wilde

They just want to postpone the medical check until the abbot returns to Thailand...

Charge the whole lot of his supporters with Obstruction of justice for interfering with an investigation.

Do that and there goes your shot at a good afterlife.

Catch You Later Alligator. Is this the Thai version of "The Dating Game"

Anyone actually know that he is still there.

They seek him here, they seek him there,
That DSI seek him everywhere.
Is he in heaven? — Is he in hell?
That damned, elusive Dhammachayo

PS he's in the Wat
