Dhammakaya followers apologise Phra Phayom Kalayano

Followers of Wat Dhammakaya have apologized Phra Phayom Kalayano, the abbot of Wat Suan Kaew for their alleged transgression of the monk and offered to withdraw their defamation charge against him.

Led by Mr Ong-art Thamnitha, spokesman of the followers, they presented flowers, candles and joss sticks which were neatly placed on trays to Phra Phayom as a gesture of apologizing over their earlier offensive remarks against the monk.

They said they would withdraw the defamation charge which was lodged against Phra Phayom at Klong Luang police station.

A day earlier, the abbot posted a wrong message in his Facebook page offering an apology to Wat Dhammakaya and Phra Dhammachayo for what he described as his mistaken allegations against the abbot of Wat Dhammakaya. He said that when he found out that his information regarding Phra Dhammachayo was wrong, he, as a man, was ready to apologize for the mistakes.

Phra Phayom told the Dhammakaya followers that he had good intention towards Buddhism and he didn’t want to see conflict among Buddhists. He also insisted that he had no ill intention against Wat Dhammakaya.

Conflict between Buddhists caused by politics.

Keep politics and religion seperate. Example, Northern Ireland.

Boom!

And just like that.........

Puff.....

I don't know why, but the always smiling Mr Ong-art looks like he'd be right at home with the moonies...

you could not make it up!

News about Dhammakaya has gone suspiciously quiet hasn't it

Somrit stated that recent news has caused him to ponder on the situation of Thai Buddhism. The first item was the push by Buddhists to enshrine Buddhism as the national religion. Second was the Sangha’s refusal to ordain Bhikkhuni, female Buddhist monks.

Third was the fight for the position of the Supreme Patriarch, which could lead to an interesting clash. On one side are those with barami (an all-encompassing term for reverence, awe, and benefit), but no power, including smaller sects of Buddhism like the Dhammakaya cult. On the other side are those with power, but without barami, such as the state, the Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, and the Thammayut sect.

Must be way back in 2002-2003 by the looks of those haircuts.

No need for Thai soaps on TV. This monks-to-monks story can take over. Hard to keep track of who's badmouthing whom and who apologizes or doesn't.
