New Alloys For Ford Everest - Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

My Everest arrives this month and I'd like to change the alloys. It's the Titanium+ version with the 20" - I'm wondering how much bigger I can go without any modifications?

Has anyone changed their standard alloys for bigger ones?

I have the same ... TBH I think that the ride is hard enough on the standard tyres.

You should be able to sell the T+ wheels reasonably easy.

You can go up to 265/40/22 relatively easily, but as JAS21 notes, ride quality will suffer:

285/45/21 retains most of the OEM sidewall thickness, while only impacting the speedometer 2.2%:

One major thing you need to be mindful of is the offset - a lot of popular Thai made wheels will have the wheels standing proud of the wheel wells.

IMHO - did you stick with the std. wheels?

285/45/21 sounds OK. I don't really want to go super low profile.

Yes, still on the OEM wheels. The only wheels I found that I liked and had the correct offset are 6x135mm stud spacing... Thai pickups and PPV's all use 6x139.7mm

Do you ever go off-road?

Not only is on-road stiffness and dynamics a consideration but also off-road use where the larger rims are more likely to be damaged or fail.

I used to race in Baja and in those extremes we were using steel rims only as the alloy rims can break.

I wanted to upgrade to larger wheels on my new (18 months ago) Triton, but in the end decided against it. No one wanted to take my Mitsu alloy wheels and tyres as a trade-in, so I would have had to try and sell them privately, so basically a lot of extra expense, and a harsher ride, just to "improve" the looks.

  • 4 months later...

they will not fit Toyota, different stud spacing

its been my experience most owners trade them in with a wheel/tyre dealer when they replace them with an after-market wheel

so whilst this may not be the ideal place to seek them out under those circumstances , but you never know......

jas 21, you said to the OP in a post on this thread  ''  I have the same ... TBH I think that the ride is hard enough on the standard tyres.

it appears from what you said in that post you have a Titanium ford (''I have the same'' as the OP) and would have these 20'' wheels fitted as standard from Ford

so if i am reading your new post correctly you are offering me 20,000 baht for wheels that you already have?

is that correct?

Personally, I would stay with the exact same size and backspacing that comes with the truck and just change to an aesthetically pleasing wheel.

At least this way alignments are simple, tires are simple, speedo won't change, and tires/air pressure are all easily noted on the door jam and user manual, ride quality will stay the same.

I mean why mess all this up for 1" of extra wheel that nobody is going to notice? Not even yourself is going to really notice 1" more wheel.

No I think going to the larger dia. will look much improved. Also wider tyres ...then sell the old wheels and tyres to me ...great idea

Well. they look better than the skinnies on the ranger:)...and why one sticks on those wheel arches with the skinny tires is beyond me...it looks weird.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder,

i had 24 ' on a fortuner , had to trim everything to make it happen, looked great, drove crap

bump steered all over the road

eventually i bought a set of stock 18 TRD wheels, it was like a limo by comparison

now, lesson learned,  i upsize my wheels using stock parts from better equipped vehicles, that way they fit as they should, and i still keep the ride comfort that Ford spent millions on in R & D to get it right, rather than some spotty faced kid in a wheel shop telling me, be ok, be dee mak mak ..

i had a range rover in UK

i loved it in between long spells in the dealership being fixed

ugly wheel arch extensions with exposed Allan key studs?

why would anyone do that?

FORD WILDTRAK 18’’ WHEELS and TYRES

These wheels that came off a brand new Ford Ranger 3.2 WildTrak that was in a 4x4 conversion specialist in Bangkok on 29th August 2015
It had been delivered there on a truck by Ford on behalf of the owner
He was having the full lift conversion and giant off road wheels and tyres fitted
When I bought them they had never been driven on a road
I have the original sales advertisement from the seller to prove this claim,
They are 14 months old from brand new, never used condition

After checking my cars service history against the date of the wheels purchase, therefore my use estimate is in the 15,000 km-20,000 km date range from new
Wheels have original factory fitted 265/60R18 Bridgestone Duellers
They are offered for sale as I have just upgraded to a bigger set of wheels
They are pretty much unmarked except for one scuff on one wheel
They will fit all 2013 onwards Ford Ranger pickups, they will fit all Mazda 2013 onwards BT-50 models
