Suspect in Pursat rape case hangs self with scarf

Featured Replies

A man arrested on suspicion of raping a disabled 16-year-old girl hanged himself with a scarf in his police cell in Pursat’s Kandieng district on Saturday.

The suspect, 32-year-old farmer Rorn Kach, was arrested earlier that day after a complaint by the alleged victim’s family.

After spending several hours in detention, Kach attached a scarf to his cell’s window bars and used it to kill himself, according to district deputy police chief Sin Sokha.

Self-punishment. He probably saved his family a lot of hassle.

why was he allowed to have a scarf, in cases where suicide may occur prisoners aren't even allowed shoelaces elsewhere.

Most likely a krama. The larger ones are pretty long.

Flip-flops don't have shoelaces to turn a blind eye to.

This is assuming that he's not even been "helped" to commit suicide... something I wouldn't be too sure of.
