King Power CEO: Purchase of Thai AirAsia shares to benefit both companies

BANGKOK, 15 June 2016 (NNT) - King Power International Co. Ltd. has bought shares in Thai AirAsia, promising to expand the airline's destinations and increase its fleet.

CEO of Thai AirAsia Tassapon Bijleveld struck a deal with King Power International to sell a 39% stake at 4.2 baht a share. The travel retail group bought a total of 1,892 shares for 7.9 billion baht.

CEO of King Power International Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha said the decision to buy a 39% stake in Thai AirAsia, which belongs to Asia Aviation Pcl, is a long-term investment. The company is expected to turn a profit on the investment in 7-8 years.

Mr. Vichai said the recent share purchase will be beneficial to both Asia Aviation and King Power International.

The travel retail group is set to increase the number of AirAsia flights between Thailand and various destinations in China, while spending five billion baht to transform its duty-free shopping complex on Soi Rangnam to accommodate the higher number of Chinese tourists coming to Thailand.

synergy is always beneficial to all parties to the deal.

hope this will make buying DUTY FREE easier on the Air Asia flights

and perhaps cheaper than at the airports.

"4.2 baht a share" and bought "a total of 1,892 shares for 7.9 billion baht". Same school of economics as 'her indoors' by the sounds of it............

Yep more devastating reporting!

Primary school kids would spot that surely, missed the million somehow.

This is a whitewash. Anyone know who owned Air Asia previously to the guy who says he SOLD IT?

he was a stooge for a Thaksin company that the ARMY just took as they did with all Shin assets recently. 7/11 THE LOT! Yes I have a friend who was HEAVILY involved.

And this deal was a THANK YOU from the army as this family supports the coup in more ways than one it seems.

Anyways folks I am running down the days before I fly the coup.

Had enough and incidentally a lil off topic just got back from Phuket.

They are saying 70% down for the season meaning it is normally slow but slower by another 70%.

From what I saw and experienced in a week more than 90% down.

Yep the clock has ticked here and now its battery is flat!
