BANGKOK: -- Thong Lor police have arrested two Chinese nationals who they caught red handed with a skimmer machine in Sukhumvit Soi 33 on Monday. Arrested were 31 year old Zhou Peihua and Zhu Hai Jin, 30.

Police seeing their suspicious behavior searched them as they milled around a Kasikorn ATM and found them in possession of a skimmer machine that is used to read data reported tnamcot. They also had three ATM cards. A search of their hotel in Soi 31 revealed another machine, two computers and 32 fake ATM cards. They denied the equipment was theirs saying it belonged to a friend. They denied charges laid against them of using fake cards to steal money.

Police say that their victims are in China. Their details have been stolen and copied onto fake cards so that money can be taken out in Bangkok and the provinces. They say the duo chose quiet ATMs in dark and secluded places to withdraw money.

Some genuine ATM cards were also found that police suspect had been stolen. The pair had been in and out of Thailand on tourist visas many times and police suspect they are responsible for a large amount of crimes.

Investigations continue along with efforts to find others involved with the two Chinese men.

Thailand is fast becoming the HUB of Se Asian Skimmers.

We get to hear of many such groups that have been apprehended, but we never get to know what was

the outcome and what have become of those dozens and dozens that have been caught, or

what jail terms they got, as there must be hundreds of them by now in the prison system.....

They are all out on bail awaiting trial.

Thought it already had been for some time.

Do they had 2 skimmer machines but the victims were in China? What is the point if those machines if you don't use them here?

Only way to deal with these scum skimmers is to start hanging them.

They will get between 30 and 50 years at least which is crazy when you think that rapists and murderers get between 7 and twenty years depending on the judge.

Unfortunately money is more important than life in Thailand.

One guy received 130 years for a similar crime.

Not doubting you, but do you have a link to this?

Especially the 130 years for skimming/card fraud.

There is no link to this i was in Bangkok remand prison for four months for a problem relating to my business.while I was there these sentences where dished out it seems they can give 3 years per card and per transaction ie withdrawal. There were murderers and rapists with the sentences In the UK if you did 10 transactions and got 3 years each you would have a max sentence of 3 years and probably do only 1.5 in Thailand it's 30 years you may do 20 depending on amnesty which is not a set figure.

...they seem to be targeting ONLY foreign operations...

...gotta guess who is ratting on them.....

...same goes for all illegal activities here....

..actually legal activities too....

...where there is a will....there is a way.........

...where locals are involved.....'there will be an investigation'......somewhere down the line.........................................

Nonsense, http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/925314-credit-card-data-stolen-by-cashier-at-big-department-store-passed-onto-farang-atm-skimmers/?hl=skimmer

It isn't unique to Thailand. Remember the Great Train Robbers in the UK? They got 30 years for taking money that was going to be destroyed. Murderers get less than that.

Yes that's true but normally only armed robbery carries a heavy sentence because someone could get hurt. In the uk the credit card sentence would be about 2 to 5 years and they would only serve half. The sentencing could be heavy to deter foreigners coming to Thailand to do such crimes however from what I have seen any crime that involves money carries heavy sentences regardless Thai or foreigner.

Yes exactly,....me to I like to know the follow up on those cases....!!
